This afternoon my feet went into overload, tingling and painful and I don't understand why. My doctor says I have neuropathy so I try to control it by eating correctly.
My blood sugar in the morning are usually around 110. This afternoon I ate a mix of grated carrot, grated courgette, tinned peas and sweetcorn...an hour later my toes were buzzing!!!
What a day. This morning I had my veins checked with a doppler scanner and the circulation and result was good. Have had MRI scan which was ok and my Hac1 is 5.9.
Am taking Lyrica 75mg.
My feet are always painful but today they really were bad...Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Hi sorry I don't know much about neuropathy or your meds but carrot, peas and sweetcorn all raise your blood sugar quite quickly, maybe stick to other veg,

Deep-root vegetables can carry more carb [glucose] covert
Possibly look into other things to use as side dishes and meal options

My lettuce parcels are a great nibble and wont trigger neuropathy plus
keep BG levels lowered .
Lettuce leaves [washed] chuck in all your fave salad options .
Tomatoes,cucumber,peppers,celery,mushrooms,grated cheese,spring onion,
sliced boiled egg, wafer thin ham slices, drizzle your fave dressing on [balsamic,
french dressing etc]
Roll them up and enjoy!

A few of these on a small side plate looks like loads to enjoy too ... :joyful:

If foot/feet pain is worsening ? Despite meds Lyrica .
Best to let your own GP :doctor: know .

Trouble is neuropathy affects the nerves so even though all else is flowing it is nerves that have the problem

Nerve damage and circulation damage can be permanent .

The 'lower' you can keeep you're blood sugars so much the better :)

Have noticed much less pain in my feet and lower legs when kept
and keep my blood sugars lowered .
It does/can take time to work out what suits one best though .
Once I figured out what works best with me - things became a whole lot easier :joyful:

please excuse my ignorance, are you guys saying that what you eat directly affects the pain in the feet? as in if your sugar rises then pain increases? id assumed things where damaged long term and not on meal to meal basis in the sense what you ate that day affected the nerve damage and immediate pain levels

Andy - some of us have neuropathy pain resulting from blood sugar levels
being too high [past, present in terms of time]

Some [like 'me'] have other feet/foot problems - diabetes aside :(
I have tiny feet high arched size4 - plus very thin boned legs and feet .
Hardly any fatty amino tissue on them too .
So I am high risk foot group via podiatry/specialist assessing .

Certain food variants/choices can affect our blood sugar levels .
I had to find what made mine spike [took me some time to sort a list
that 'did' out]
Once I eliminated the spikey foods = less pain in my feet :joyful:

amazing thankyou i didnt know that, im sorry you suffer this though :(

It was searching about neuropathy that found me on this forum. Sugar levels down, carbs cut back- pain gone.
Carbs up over Xmas pain begins to return.
