Glad you are feeling a bit brighter and managing to eat, even if only a little. Your new co-workers sound lovely. It makes so much difference if the people you are working with are happy to help you to understand the job. The boss sounds pretty good too. Thanks all!
Still ill, but a little better than yesterday (obviously, it didn't involve stacking boxes for hours while being ill or getting up at some unholy hour, which makes a rather significant difference).
I had a very nice talk with two actual gully suckers and their manager today. The manager thought to ask his workers to stay a bit after lunch to tell me about the job, they know it better than he does after all.
I felt perfectly comfortable to share my doubts on the long working days: 7 to 5, three days a week, and both workers and managers were quick to tell me to just give it a try and don't be shy to let them know if it was too much. So they already have all the points on the social aspect of the job.
The gully suckers were both in their 60's, and very enthousiastic about showing me their gully sucking truck, turning it on to show all the buttons and how to move the pipe, and then deciding they could as well drive to the nearest gully to show me the actual sucking, they were really lovely.
I bought some soft insoles, apparently most of my day will consist of walking ahead of the truck and sticking the pipe in the gullies, and they've planned me in on tuesday, wednesday and thursday, on my new and very uncomfortable safety shoes...
I have my doubts with those long days, but I'll give it an honest try, who knows!
At least I'll have another 6 days to recover from covid.
Managed half a slice of LC bread with cheese during the day, and I ate all of my evening meal as well.
Granted, it was a rather small evening meal, this is a very small breakfast plate but still!
LC wrap (first time I was happy they are so tiny!) filled with shawarma meat, onion, bell pepper, garlic, some raw endive by way of lettuce, and a little mayo based spicy sauce.
Tasted awful, but pretty sure that was covid, and not the food.

I completely agree!Glad you are feeling a bit brighter and managing to eat, even if only a little. Your new co-workers sound lovely. It makes so much difference if the people you are working with are happy to help you to understand the job. The boss sounds pretty good too.
Woah, woah, woah! Hold up! You're complimenting yourself? Publicly?and I did a pretty good job if I may say so myself.
You just alarmed 4 small dogs and one cat previously sound asleep by making me laugh out loud, which led to an impressing coughing fit.Woah, woah, woah! Hold up! You're complimenting yourself? Publicly?
Alright, who are you and what have you done with the real Antje? I'll be reporting this, because clearly an imposter has taken control of your account and is posting for you!
Really pleased your first day went well. Keep us updated!
Cant send you any more hours - I need them myself!2 scrambled eggs about 10
Then a trip to IKEA with hubby, so at lunch time he had the meatballs, chips and cheesecake while I had a small packet of nuts.
At least the boxes we went for fitted the unit OK!
So cold, especially back at home so changed dinner plans to have bolognaise on spaghetti for him and on green beans for me.
Pud was a few fresh raspberries and alpine strawberries from the garden. The raspberries are very early this year (unusually the canes are very short, will be interesting to see how the season unfolds)
Life's gone a bit pear shaped as we try to support several elderly neighbours who have all got various ailments. Then a good friend as ended up in hospital. Word is they don't know if its heart or her Type1???!!!
I've also had a bit of a health scare I'm trying to do a separate thread on.
Does anyone have more hours in a day they can kindly send me please?
Soaking the chicken in brine for a couple of hours before roasting makes it more moist once cooked. It doesn't make it salty. I don't think the concentration of the brine makes a lot of difference - I just pour a very liberal amount (about a cup - American measure) into the bottom of a pot, add some cold water and stir to dissolve, put the chicken in and add water to cover it.Morning all. I've just been reading an article on Dr. Michael Mosley and the fact he wouldn't recommend anything unless he had tried it out first and it was worth passing on. He said that eating cold pasta was healthier than eating it hot because it didn't spike the bg as much. I love pasta and haven't had any for a long time so I'm going to have some and see what happens. @Annb, does soaking your chicken in brine improve the taste? And how do you make the brine.....eg how much salt?
Change of plan. Exhausted by the time I got back from leg bandaging. Hungry too. Had a small piece of cheese and started to feel nauseous. Feeling just bleurgh now so not going to bother cooking or eating. For Antje's benefit, bleurgh isn't a word but it's what I feel like.Breakfast: cold chicken
2nd meal: pre-cooked pork with cabbage and a few other veg (left-overs).
is it hug or winner? Hug for being under the weather and your bug symptoms sticking around but winner for getting out there and getting jobs done before the rain arrived.Afternoon all, I'm under the weather (literally and figuratively!) - it's been on and off since the onset of the "cold" which I now think might be covid, the symptoms keep coming back and my sense of taste and smell is affected. In spite of that I knew it was going to rain this afternoon so got outside early and potted up a lot of the flowers that were waiting, finished loading the skip and even got a little sit in the sun when it peeped out. Yesterday I mowed the lawn and was really, really exhausted afterwards, so took it a bit slower today. Still pleased with how much I got done. Have now had my shower and some greek yogurt with cream a few strawberries, which might be my evening meal.
My eating has been a bit erratic, more carbs than I should have but not too much because of low appetite due to the covid or cold, and avoiding junk. Although avoiding junk is harder when I don't feel well!
Hope everyone is doing well x
sorry you are feeling bleurgh I'm sure the lack of any proper summer in sight doesn't help us.Change of plan. Exhausted by the time I got back from leg bandaging. Hungry too. I'd imagine you don't need to eat the pasta cold - reheating after some time chilling in the fridge it would be okay and starch may be made more resistant. Having said this I've never been brave enough to experiment with real pasta I stick to small amounts of the low carb stuff and even that I try to precook, rinse and then reheat to reduce starch even more!Morning all.
