Pleased to hear you're doing betterThank you all for the kind wishes. Whatever bug it was passed through very quickly. I take a large dose of vitamin c everyday so maybe that did the trick.
I couldn't sleep however and finally realised I was very hungry so got up at 3 am and had cheese and pate and nuts and a cup of tea.
Today was a bit more normal
B: cold chicken
Exercise class
L: 2 beefburgers on spring greens with kimchi and coleslaw. Very cabbagey, unintentionally!!!
D: had an 6:30 meeting so a little nuts and cheese before and cheese and hm lc mango parfait after.
I liked the job, but it was too heavy and I couldn't keep up. The heat didn't help either.Hope job goes well and that your pesky arm tendons don't object too much. Think the grass to feed cattle is called hay in UK when fresh and dry but silage when rotted down or fermented under plastic usually for feed. I'm happy to be corrected though ........
Are you going back for a second day on that job Antje? It's bound to be hard going at first, but at least your arms seem to be playing ball. I daresay the beer helped to recover from the heat, if it was cold.I liked the job, but it was too heavy and I couldn't keep up. The heat didn't help either.
Nice people, very lovely dog, and apparently you're supposed to drink beer after you've finished covering the pile of silage, so my breakfast at 11:30 am was a liquid one.
No issues with my arms though, thankfully!
Pleased you liked the job and it didn't cause you any more issues with your arms- but such a shame it was hot. Any outdoors work is so so much harder when it's uncomfortably warm. When we painted our fence a few weeks ago one of panels was in full sun and I felt quite dizzy after an hour or so. It was much easier painting in the shade ! Not sure a beer in the morning would have helped the dizziness!I liked the job, but it was too heavy and I couldn't keep up. The heat didn't help either.

I think energy levels take quite a while to adjust particularly as you are switching about a bit with the fuel you are taking in. I remember clearly in early keto days when adapting that sometimes my energy didn't come in on demand. Took a while for me as I'd had years of sugar burning and then being without the carbs to provide the energy - despite having a lot of fat on my body at the time waiting to be burnt. I'd got the fuel but my body needed to adjust to using fat as my main energy source. In addition heat is very draining too. Once I'd properly adjusted to fat burning on full keto I had energy to spare.Goodness @Antje77 physical work in the heat followed by beer... I'd be fast asleep! Glad you enjoyed it! I think it's very difficult to keep up with a new physical job, as I said before, no muscle memory means it's much more of a challenge.
I've not had a low carb day, and the heat is making me a bit sluggish. I'm a bit disappointed to find that my energy levels are still very low, even after losing a reasonable bit of weight. I need to push on and lose more to get results maybe - or perhaps it's just part of being older for me. I still think I'm in my twenties in my head!
I've got heaps of mushrooms in the slow cooker, I'll make soup out of the liquid and the mushrooms will be frozen to have with breakfasts etc.
Hope everyone has had/is having a great day - it's going to be even hotter here tomorrow apparently - I know these temperatures are fairly mild for people in some parts of the world but I'm just not used to them!
Think we all need to move to the Scottish Highlands and Islands to cool down! Mind you we'd be grabbing jumpers and complaining about the cold! Think issue is we don't do extreme heat or cold very well. Are you going back for a second day on that job Antje? It's bound to be hard going at first, but at least your arms seem to be playing ball. I daresay the beer helped to recover from the heat, if it was cold.
We don't have anything like that heat here. The weather app says it's 14C and sunny when in fact, it's more like 10C and overcast.
Food yesterday was 2 bowls of vegetable soup out of the freezer. Today was pork ragout - had one meal earlier and there's about half as much again left, so that'll do for my 2nd meal.
Alistair has Covid - tested positive - and is feeling pretty bad. Neil and I have what we thought were colds, but we haven't tested yet. We will later because Alistair said he would send up a couple of test kits. Whatever mine is, it has gone down into my lungs again but is just irritating, not bad. Neil is feeling pretty grotty. It may be Covid, but we don't know yet.
I've done a DNA test to see what ancestral lines they can find for me. I've been doing a lot of family history research and one line takes us right back to the 9th century and Vikings (The earliest is Ragnar Lodbrok and his arch enemy Aelle as well, who had him thrown into a pit of vipers. Nice! especially the fabled comeuppance dealt by Ragnar's sons who, the story goes, executed him using the notorious "blood eagle" method. Very nice!) I can well believe that some of my family members are descended from them.
Nope. I was only asked for two days, and on different farms at that. Are you going back for a second day on that job Antje? It's bound to be hard going at first, but at least your arms seem to be playing ball.
I'm on my way!We don't have anything like that heat here. The weather app says it's 14C and sunny when in fact, it's more like 10C and overcast.
Gosh your neighbours accident puts things in perspective - very sad and sobering.Nope. I was only asked for two days, and on different farms at that.
No use doing a job if I'm not worth the money, and not worth killing my back trying to do the job. The job agency was very nice about it, we'll just keep trying to find something that works.
I'm on my way!
Otherwise, my day sucked. Neighbour three houses down the road (I don't think he has featured here before) was on holiday walking in the mountains. Yesterday he misstepped and fell down the mountain.
I heard early this afternoon and had to inform various other neighbours, a job much harder than my morning job.
I feel so sorry for his partner that it hurts. The both of them are recently retired, very fit and active, all ready for another twenty years of enjoying life, and I know no other couple as much in love as those two.
I lost my mum to an accident when I was twenty, echoes are loud today.
You're right, I've been kind of blind to that even though when I had got into fat burning I remember posting to say how much my energy levels had seemed to improve. After my hols I'll have another proper go at keto I think. I'm very much the carb addict who can't abstain and that is the reality, but it doesn't mean I can't keep trying!I think energy levels take quite a while to adjust particularly as you are switching about a bit with the fuel you are taking in. A hug emoji doesn't cut it for this, so replying to let you know I'm thinking of you and sending love xNope. I was only asked for two days, and on different farms at that.

Have not come across BC spot prawns @MommaE. Are they currently in season? I may be able to order from our trusty fishmonger.Coming from BC I feel obliged to give a shout out to our BC Spot Prawns. A champion of the crustaceans.
I’d think the short six week season has recently closed. Our excellent fishmonger only has them frozen, and a limited number each year. If you can get them they are a delicious treat.Have not come across BC spot prawns @MommaE. Are they currently in season? I may be able to order from our trusty fishmonger.
A very very happy belated birthday to you! I like to make mine last at least a weekThat posting from @Antonynguyen was from one of my postings about my life in Holland in 1959/1961 quite a few weeks ago. Maybe the same happened to him? I've been awol recently but last Friday was my 86th birthday and my stepson and wife came over for the weekend. They brought me a reclining chair as my present. It belonged to my stepson's mother and he thought I might make use of it! I'm very lucky! He also brought me a bottle of normal Baileys and a bottle of Baileys Birthday cake! He found it on the ferry but when they went back, they had sold out! I love a drop of Baileys in my morning coffee. My Irish granddaughter also came up for the weekend. All in all, I've had a wonderful weekend. marinated!!, dined, pampered as never before so I'm really counting my blessings. Have a nice day all.
