Nausea can be miserable and vomiting and diahorrea worse. One thing to remember is to keep hydrated - lots of fluids being lost. Some people take preparations of bicarb of soda, or soda water and find that it helps. Herbal teas and ginger tea can help as well. I always find that something salty helps (crisps/ham). To make sure you have some food, scrambled eggs are light on the stomach, as is white fish. Neil uses tinned mackerel but being oily I'm not sure that it would suit everyone although the salt in it might be helpful. Little and often is best so as not to over-tax your sensitive stomach. Nothing fibrous.Any thoughts on what to eat today?
I woke up last night being nauseous, thank heavens for the bucket next to my bed! Not that I liked going downstairs all shivery and cold to empty the bucket, but it's a lot better than the alternative,
Tried to go back to sleap but every time I almost fell asleep things repeated themselves until early morning, when I did catch some more hours of sleep. Until I woke up because of diarrhoea, again, made it to the toilet in time!
This was repeated a few times as well, but at least not nauseous anymore, and things seem to have stopped now, so hopefully all better tomorrow.
I guess I'll have to eat something at some point today, but I still feel like a wrung out and fevery dishcloth, and nothing I can think of foodwise sounds appealing.
It's been 25 years since I last had something like this happening so I don't really have any experience with this.
What are your go to foods when feeling rubbish?
Preferably low carb, I still have to make do with fingerpricks instead of sensor, no use adding complicated foods to unknown effects of illness on my diabetes.
I'm with @Annb on this @Antje77, plenty water and scrambled eggs with a bit toast. Plenty rest as well. S&D is horrid. Hope you feel sufficiently recovered for the MRI tomorrow.Any thoughts on what to eat today?

Sorry to hear you're poorly @Antje77. Anybody you know with similar symptoms? Thanks @Annb .
I just had a try with a small piece of cheese, looks like it goes well and it didn't taste too bad so I might repeat later.
I drank lots of tea today (earl grey, not herbal) and a little coffee so I guess I'm all good on the hydration front.
No more nausea or diarrhoea, just feeling knackered with a bit of a fever and too little sleep, so I expect to be able to get the MRI still tomorrow morning.
Should todays food turn out to be some pieces of cheese now and again and nothing else, all fine, who cares.
If I suddenly find something in the fridge that looks appealing, fine as well.
Oh yuck, stupid decision to make where it's impossible to know what's the best course until after.I've had a bit of luck too. Surprise phone call on Saturday afternoon saying I can gave an eye op this Thursday ( have been waiting since February). Trouble is not sure I want it. Surgeon says 50/50 may help or may make it worse. It will get worse over time anyway.
Good luck today with your scan and pleased tummy symptoms on way out hope you're more back to full health soon.Still a bit wobbly and woozy, I expect two paracetamols will solve most of that shortly, no nausea or diarrhea anymore, so I'm about to be picked up to go to the hospital.
They gave me 20 mg of oxazepam for anxiety, never had those, so if I'm talking funny stuff after the MRI you'll know the cause!
I feel like a 15 year old smoking their first joint and waiting for something to happen.

Good luck!
Difficult 're the eye operation when you are not sure about outcome. Hope it all goes well. Can imagine that the stress of the sudden call would not have helped your bgs too.Good luck for tomorrow @Antje77

Haven't had much time to consider it as have got family staying. A takeout curry Saturday caused stomach issues. Today did late brunch after we went cold water swimming...well I didn't, 2 of my guests did. Rest were spectators.
Then in afternoon stroll to local church Tower which was open followed by much blackberry picking. Supper was pastries for them and salads., with cheese. Did have small taste of trifle.
Bg has been all over the place, at least 1 huge non food related spike and averaging 7.5. Not like me all.
Horrible decision to have to make. Is there any guidance about the potential outcome if you don't have the op? Especially when it's your eyes they are talking about, you need to know that. You need to be given enough information to make your own decisions.Good luck for tomorrow @Antje77

When I first consulted the hospital dietician about losing weight put on after starting insulin, she told me there is no way I could lose weight while taking insulin so I might as well not try. Nevertheless I tried and, managing to reduce insulin has allowed me to lose weight to some extent but there's still a long way to go. I will do it though, bit by bit. How much I lose depends on how much time I have left to do it though. I tried cold showers and cold baths back in the 60's because my new husband recommended it. He always used cold water to liven him up after a bath or shower. It didn't suit me, it wasn't just cold, it was extremely painful. Too much of a coward, me.Morning all. @Annb, it's so hard to lose weight at our age, so don't beat yourself up. I've lost 10and a half pounds since February! I used to be able to go running every evening round the football field at the bottom of my garden. Now I can probably walk 200 yards max thro Arthritis. @ANTJE, hope everything has gone well and you feel better. I can't match you on your cold water swimming, (wish I could) so after my hot shower, I turn it to cold. I havent been doing it long but I do feel a benefit from it. I used to watch the Wim Hoff(?) programme, did you see it? He walked around in flip-flops and shorts in the snow! He taught a lot of celebrities how to cope with the cold and swim in icy cold water, underwater too. It was fascinating.
