"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

I find it much easier to talk and get to know someone when actually doing something together
I used to suggest going for a walk in a park or garden, or art gallery or museum etc. Then it's easy to extend to coffee/meal, or just invent a prior appointment and walk away if it's not working out.
@Antje77 im just concerned at you meeting inside his property rather than a public place, especially the first time

@Annb having followed your diabetes journey for a few years now, can I send big hugs? Hopefully it's a temporary blip. Can I just also suggest maybe it's been falling becuase you seem to eating less?

Apparently Levothyroxine can put BG up, according to the internet. Probably having some effect but not the whole answer.

Too busy this afternoon, so didn't remember to eat until 5 pm. That's when I threw the salmon into the oven with some spinach so there will be no lamb casserole today. Maybe tomorrow morning. I'll just keep an eye on the BG and try to get back to sticking very strictly to the "rules" whether BG level demands carbs or not.

I love your worrying about me, I haven't had a mum since I was 20 and it does feel good!
It'll be fine though, from the chat with him it's very clear he's as nervous as I am, although we both try to hide it.
He may not be the one for me but I'm quite sure I'll be as safe sleeping on his couch as I would be sleeping on yours.

I'll try to remember to let you know I'm fine at some point tomorrow evening but I can't promise, fiddling with your phone during a date isn't exactly attractive, and diabetes forces me to look at my phone more than I like to already...

I'm pretty sure we'll get along well, but while I've seen his profile pic on the dating site, he hasn't seen a picture of me because I don't have one on that site and we haven't moved on to whatsapp or email. So he may run when he sees me.
He already knows I'll wear knitted socks in sandals and that hasn't put him off, hopefully he'll find the rest acceptable as well.

Oh my @MrsA2 , what part of my post made you react with the 'hilarious' emoji?
Was it the socks in sandals or the part where I thought sleeping on your couch would be safe? Or the bit where you're doing the mum part?

I'm completely ready to take any advice on what socks to wear or otherwise, I'm just a tiny little bit nervous.
Not about meeting inside his property at all but about possibly meeting someone I might actually like. Not very likely, statistically, but still...

Fingers crossed diabetes (and sensor and alarms) will behave tomorrow, yesterday and today diabetes has been completely unpredictable, it must be the weather or the colour of our socks @Annb .

Maybe I should change the colour of my socks and see if that helps. Oh ... they're all black, other than 2 white pairs. Not much choice.

Breakfast was the remainder of the lamb casserole. Didn't seem to satisfy for some reason - there was plenty of it.

If I need a second meal, it'll be cabbage with some bits of sausage cooked with it. There's still some of the gravy from the casserole left, so might add that as well.

BG was 6.5 when I woke up and now, after breakfast (and a small dose of insulin) is 5.5.

B: full fat greek yoghurt with berries and milled seeds.
L: 3 slices corned beef, a cracker with butter and pickled green tomatoes. A mini icecream.
D: bit of a muddle. I'd seen a recipe for bacon wrapped sprouts so thought it would fit the keto bill, but when I started preparing I realised no one, not even me , wants to eat the number of sprouts needed to make it a filling meal. So they became sort of a starter and I had some extra bacon. Hubby was so not impressed he made himself bacon and egg baps!

I quite liked the bacon wrapped spouts, maybe as an appetiser/nibble but not sure if they'd do well with guests....

In between times I drove a neighbour to the specialist hospital for a procedure. By the time they discharged her it was dark and rush hour and its a long time since I drove unknown roads in the dark. Survived, but didn't enjoy it.

All good!
And here I am wondering when would be the right time to ask you how things went, and maybe check this thread to see whether you're still alive and all, before bothering you...

Slightly psychotic. Just a smidge then. Okay. Yeah. No, not worried at all now.

I do hope you had a wonderful evening! It certainly sounds like it wasn't boring, in any case. (The slightly psychotic of the world, usually make for very interesting conversational partners, I've found. Better than what we'd call "Normaal-o's"! )

I saw a recipe a few days ago for Brussels sprouts with almonds. I can't eat almonds but thought I might try it with hazelnuts. Not today, though. Maybe tomorrow.

So glad it's only "slightly" [can't find an eyes roll/phew! emoji]
@Antje77 - glad he wasn't an axe murderer, but I'm another who says - do be careful. Bring your own axe.
I do own a very nice axe, but I doubt introducing myself to an already mildly paranoid date with an axe at the ready would make a good start of a date.

We had a fun evening, interesting and sometimes confusing conversation when his mind made some odd jumps to sidetracks that to him were a completely logical part of the subject and to me fully unrelated. He easily got back on track though when I pointed out why he didn't make sense. He also wondered if there really were micro cameras in his wall or if this was the psychosis but agreed with me it was most likely the psychosis.

Like @JoKalsbeek said, definitely interesting!
Very interested in my diabetes management, and quite knowledgable as well on metabolism. He studied medicine when he was young until he mentally crashed during his internships towards the end of his study.

All in all, a very enjoyable evening but we won't be having a second date.
