"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Not really breakfast: a chunk of cheese

Double dancing. First for a few weeks. Brain hurts at all the new routines. I've got a problem with a foot (doctors appointment next Tuesday) and although I could dance, it's hurt and ached ever since.

L: 2 hard boiled eggs, 8 strawberries and packaged mango and chia pudding from Lidl. No sugars or sweeteners except those in the mango, banana and dates listed. Only small amount per portion. Total carbs was about 8. Worth buying again, but think they were part of last weeks 'specials' so they may not carry them again.

Mid afternoon hunger attack: strawberries, greek yoghurt and nut bar

D: spiced chicken, mushrooms and a little salad.

No alcohol today.
 
Good thing my meatloaf tastes so good, as this was day three, and I'll have it again tomorrow.
I usually don't work more than 3 days in a row, but I had a last minute extra day so I had to quickly improvise food for 4 days on monday evening.

Today with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper.
And yes, I need a better knife on the bridge if I want my meatloaf to look better. Or maybe I need to learn the patience of cutting my onions smaller, that would help as well.



During my break I went to try out a new swimming spot close to the bridge. I skipped my usual morning swim today and yesterday in favour of an extra 30 minutes of sleep so no excuses!
Swimming alone in a new spot is always a bit scary but it turned out to be a very useful spot, will use it again during my break!



But the best thing of today happened at 10 am, I bought tickets for Bob Dylan, who's coming to Amsterdam again in Novemer!
I'll go both nights, the first on my own, near the front, the second with friends, in the back.

This means spending a night near Amsterdam and I think I know a good spot for parking my car to sleep in just outside the city.
My mum used to have a small sailing boat in a very small harbour (12 boats) on a very quiet country road, so I partially grew up spending my summers there. I'll just park my car on the roadside outside the entrance, no one there in November. Of course I'll climb the fence with my morning coffee and have a look around in the place where so many memories are. Very much looking forward to this too.
It's been so long, she died 28 years ago when I was 20, I expect it won't hurt too much and I also expect many happy memories to pop up!

Wow, you're not a first-generation sailor! Do many of your relatives have a profession related to the sea? The stereotypes about the Dutch are here

@MrsA2 what kind of dancing do you do? Judging by how often you do this, you're probably pretty cool at it.
I am completely incapable of dancing
 
Avocado and tomato salad for breakfast.

2nd meal will be another couple of sausages with more cabbage. The experiment of braising wedges of cabbage worked very well but I shredded the rest of the cabbage so will cook it as a dish by itself with maybe an apple and onion, or maybe with carrot and bits of orange. Not sure which yet, but one or the other.

Baking day today - vegan cupcakes. I'll be raiding Neil's vegan supplies for those. There are so many cupcakes to be made for next Friday that I have made out a schedule of when each bake is to happen and then which creams to be made. The cakes will go into the freezer until next Wednesday which is scheduled to be decoration day. Thursday is not going to be much of a cake day because it is also leg day.

Only my grandfather, but he wasn't a very nice man and his children hated sailing with him. Still, they all liked the sailing itself!
My aunt and her partner have even sailed around the Atlantic for two years on a 12 meter sailing yacht.

This is the place I have in mind, so very unlikely to be caught by the police with that free line of sight in all directions!



But if they do, I'll wave with my coffee pot, mug, and carton of milk, and explain I was looking for some memories. Ever seen a burglar bring their own coffee?
It'll be fine, it's Dutch police.
 
My BG has gone over 8 for the first time in 2 weeks. Why would that be, I wonder? Turns out that the vegan recipes I have are very good - especially the chocolate cupcakes! Had to test them, didn't I?

Haha, I shouldn't compare your police to ours Although our police probably wouldn't have done anything for such a violation either.
 
B: yoghurt and milled seeds. 4 strawberries
Met family "halfway" for pub lunch. Nearly 2 hours there and 2 and half back, but they're worth it!
I had shakshuka and a small piece flatbread and 2 small scoops ice cream. Drank only water.
Not really dinner: small cold roast chicken, a tomato, yoghurt with strawberry and a sq chopped 85% chocolate
 
a few years later, on this forum, I decided that I had to do something about my terrible English and signed up for courses. I'm not sure I won't give up, as I usually do, but wish me luck.

Good luck. I don't want to put you off, but English isn't the easiest language in the world to master. There are rules to keep you right, but they are often ignored, especially these days. That's just the way the language has developed. However, you already do a pretty good job with it, so it's worth putting as much effort into it as you feel prepared to do.
 
Breakfast: avocado salad again. Neil bought 4 and they are all just at the right stage for eating, for once. No point letting them go over the top.

Because I foolishly tested the vegan baking yesterday, I didn't feel like eating anything else, so no 2nd meal happened. It will be eaten today. That's cabbage braised with some shredded carrot and bits of orange with 2 pork sausages, cooked on their own.

I did manage to bake all but the coffee vegan cupcakes yesterday (vanilla, chocolate, lemon and raspberry) so will bake the coffee ones today. That'll make 20 in total. The normal cupcakes - 20 of each flavour - will be done tomorrow and Monday probably.

Tragedy! Our car has broken down. Needs a fair amount of work on the suspension and that may be a job too far (ie too much to spend on such an elderly vehicle). However, I can't afford another car, and I do need transport, so it may just be a matter of shelling out for an expensive job, whether the car is worth it or not. The only other way I can get about would be by taxi and at about £50 a trip to town,once or twice a week, that's just not on.
 
I studied English at both school and university and barely managed to pass the exam, so I can imagine what it is I can read, but it's very difficult for me to speak (so if anyone wants to break down my language barrier, you're welcome). I came to the class and the first topic was about health. Haha, I was so good at it !

My written English is much better than my spoken English, but it's still good enough to practice and I suppose we can simply use whatsapp to call and see if we manage to understand eachother, sounds fun!

(And mods, no need to panic, there's no solliciting going on here, @Zhnyaka and I have already exchanged phone numbers after the last forum breakdown, too late to watch out for our online safety.)

Yesterdays meal was the 4rth day of meatloaf on the bridge, with the second day of tomatoes and mozzarella. Mark came to the bridge and we drove home together.

Today we walked a 'blotevoetenpad' (barefoot path, I'm sure my diabetes nurse approves ).
Those paths suddenly are a thing in the Netherlands and they pop up everywhere, often a short walk in nature (1-3 km) with different soils and structures to walk on. This one had lots of fun obstacles, mud and water, and we've enjoyed ourselves very much for 2 hours on a 3.5 km walk.



Tonight it's Astrids birthday party, first swimming in the sea, then a barbecue in the garden.
And beer of course!

Wow wow wow! Really?! Today I'm staying with my parents, where the Internet is very bad, but I'll be back home tomorrow. I only have plans from 19:00 to 21:00, and on weekdays I work from 9:00 to 18:00, so you can choose any time when we will call. I sincerely hope that my spoken English is at least a little understandable, because in English classes I could always switch to my native language.

I haven't done anything bad with your personal data despite my profession, have I?
 
@Antje77 barefoot paths sound fun. I always go barefoot when I can but this sounds so much better.

After dire warnings of flash floods here, turned out to just need an umbrella! At least garden will look better now.

Had a piece of cake at charity sale, because no one else turned out in the weather and I felt sorry for the organisers who had cooked so much. I also bought a whole cake which I will take to the old people's club on Tuesday. I'm supposed to have made it but "homemade" doesn't specify which home it was made in eh?

Lunch was a 90 second roll with pate and cucumber

Dinner was pork chop with roasted peppers and courgette. Strawberries and cream. Hubby had meringue with his.

Still no alcohol!
 
Vegan coffee cake is surprisingly successful - and tastes very good. There was far too much of the mixture for just a dozen cupcakes, so there's an 8" square chunk of coffee cake plus about 8 cupcakes, waiting to be disposed of. Alistair, on Monday, I guess.
 
How would I know if you've done something bad with my data? You're a Russian hacker with some subversive ideas on your government as far as I know, I'm a complete idiot when it comes to computer technology!
But I'm quite sure my data are too boring anyway.

I'm busy tomorrow, having a friend staying for the weekend, but we'll have a call at some point after the weekend, I'm looking forward to it!

Text me at pm time when it's convenient for you and we'll choose an option when we're both not busy.
 
Breakfast: sausage and eggs, tomato, coffee.

2nd meal will be more of the braised cabbage with a stuffed burger. Experimental again but they seem like a good idea.
