"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Looks amazing, tasted absolutely horrible.
Not the Brussels sprouts with cream cheese and bacon bits of course, can't go wrong with that.

But the experimentally flavoured meat loaf was a complete disaster, and it went in the bin after a few bites.
Worse, this was going to be the main component of my meal for the next 3 days on the bridge, and now it's in the bin!

I'll improvise and I'm sure I'll think of something to accompany my sprouts tomorrow on the bridge.
No idea yet so feel free to throw in suggestions which only need a microwave.

You could make some kind of frittata at home to heat up. Or some high-protein ready-meal. I did like Lidl's Polish meatloaf, which can be eaten hot or cold. Or some ham, either a ham hock or sliced ham..... or some kind of egg (make sure you cook on the lowest setting of the microwave or you'll end up with a bullet).

PS Ate a shedload of grapes after supper as they were fresh - I bought a mixed pack, the black ones for my husband and the green ones for me!

Can't believe I just did an online shop for Christmas Eve! I had a message first thing that slots were open and I particularly wanted a Christmas Eve slot this year - so got on with it. I just put my usual stuff in the basket to hold the spot but need to think about things like the size of Turkey needed and add later. Christmas planning \marketing definitely starts earlier every year! It's not even really got cold yet! In the real world it's a lovely day and I have gardening plans plus less tempting but necessary gutter clearing jobs. Also need to bake some low carb bread.
@jpscloud pleased you found some cheerful plants they make a big difference at this time of year.
I'm planning a proper breakfast today after a few days of quick rushed ones - I'll do roasted tomatoes, bacon and egg on low carb toast.Dinner will be haddock in a tomato sauce and veggies. Using up the rest of my fresh tomatoes which have been ripening indoors and then I'll be in to the frozen ones!

Porridge for breakfast, cottage cheese salad for lunch and chili con carne for tea.

It was rainy this morning so I did some tidying up in the house. I also chopped and froze two punnets of mushrooms ready to use in slow cooker meals, and I'll get some rice cooked and cooled for resistant starch to have with tea.

There's a punnet of chestnut mushrooms in the fridge to use so 2nd meal will be that plus some onions, chicken style vegan protein and some keto orzo.

Feeling rather nauseous again and, this time, I think it is the weight loss pills doing it. My friend, who is on the injections, suggested it might make me feel ill but insisted that if I just keep going despite that, I'll get through it. I didn't have any intention of not doing so anyway, but she says you get used to it and it doesn't happen any more. Here's hoping.

Whoof, what a day! @shelley262, we've booked our Christmas holiday to Vienna already! On alternate years we usually go to our daughter's, but it's the year when they go to his parents, and I don't want to descend on my mother and sister, as my sister's (adult) children usually go. They would welcome us, of course, but we would have to sleep in the motor home.... and it makes more work for my sister. We do go sometimes, and have a lovely time, and my mother isn't likely to have many more Christmases. But she takes the line that it's "only a day", so doesn't mind when we celebrate it with her.

@Annb, the nausea should pass in another few days - if it doesn't, get back to whoever prescribed you the pills.

Meanwhile, I have had One of Those Days! Started off all right - breakfast was the overnight oats soaked in the whey from the strained yogurt, which were very good, but would have been nicer had I remembered to season them (a tiny pinch of salt and a slightly larger pinch of ground cumin). Anyway that, with orange juice and coffee. Then I had to take something to return to Amazon, and took a parcel to post for my husband while I was at it. That was all right, but they had run out of Amazon return labels. So I went to the other post office, only to find their system had broken down and they couldn't take Amazon parcels. I was spitting feathers, and couldn't face going to the third post office - I'll try to call in there tomorrow on my way to the hairdresser and see.

Lunch was soup, a mini pork pie, some coleslaw and home-made blackcurrant ice-cream. The afternoon was okay - I was mostly sorting out my sermon for the Sunday after we get back from holiday. Then our minister decided she wanted me to do the Church notices for next month - I used to do them many years ago, but haven't for ages, and it took forever to discover I couldn't do them the way the previous minister had, and to settle on a format I was happy with! Now relaxing. Supper, incidentally, was liver and bacon in a tomato/mushroom sauce, potato/cauliflower mash, carrots and green beans! Followed by yoghurt and stewed plums.

I cooked the orzo, but that is as far as I got. I decided I really couldn't face mushrooms and my stomach was actually very painful, not just playing up. Had a cup of Caro and left it at that. At least the orzo is cooked and ready for when I do feel like eating it and the mushrooms aren't going anywhere just yet.

The thought of a pork pie made me want one - just for a moment, but my stomach soon told me what it thought of that idea. Just as well I don't have any in the house.

There's always eggs. Scrambled are OK in a microwave. I even do a version of poached by breaking one into half a mug of cold water. Timing can vary and you may have the odd explosion or hard cooked but at least it will be eggsciting (haha)

A quieter day today, thank goodness
Woke quite stiff from the weight training yesterday so did an online pilates class which helped a lot.
A cold hard boiled egg and a little cheese
Finally did some jobs I'd been putting off
Lunch was cheese on heylo lc bread and a plum
Then a stroll around a park I've been driving past regularly for about 35 years. Finally found time to actually go into it for an explore. Larger than it looks and very natural.
Dinner was a burger (no bun of course) with cauliflower with a sauce using herby cream cheese and mustard. A glass rose wine.

Morning all - almost nippy out there but I do like the weather to be seasonal and it is late September. My raspberries are just about finished now - think I will be cutting them back soon.
@Mrs Redboots last time we went to Vienna several years ago it was in the middle of a heatwave and we went from one air conditioned museum to another as it limited how far we could walk and explore - lovely idea to go in the winter.
Something with pork today - I'll probably pop it in the slow cooker with some veg.

Oh, I am SO CROSS! After the Ascend Plus presentation I wrote to them to say how interesting they had been, but was surprised that they didn't think people could tell if they were on the placebo or the semaglutide, as I'd lost so much weight and have ongoing issues with my digestive system. So they ring me up and say I've lost too much weight and need to pause the trial for a couple of months pending confirmation from my GP that all is well otherwise. I am FURIOUS. If I hadn't written to them, they wouldn't have known, so why, oh why, did I write? I really don't want to pause the trial, I don't want to put all the weight back on, I'm so much fitter and healthier without it. And it has brought down my HbAc1 from "pre-diabetic" (I think it was 45, it might have been 42) to 40.... It's worth occasional digestive upsets, it really is.

In happier news, I've had my hair cut really short, which looks fantastic! Breakfast was overnight oats with the end of the dried fruit compote, lunch was a mini-pork pie before I went to the hairdressers, then another one when I got home, plus some fruit and some nuts. And I have drunk green tea lemonade (home-made lemon cordial) - delicious, but an unfortunate colour! And coconut water as I was really thirsty after the hairdresser, and the convenience supermarket only had big bottles. Supper will, I think, be the gnocchi and vegetable dish we had two nights ago - at least, the second half of it, and then kefir yoghurt and stewed plums.

Oh dear, I really, really, really don't want my appetite to come roaring back. :crying:

Sending you a hug - this sounds so frustrating. Let's hope your GP is responsive and supports you in remaining on the medication trial that you feel is helping you.

10:00 2 scrambled eggs to fuel me before double dance class. Cwc in my thermos :)
Late lunch of 2 m&s cracker bread things 4g carbs each) with herby cream cheese and smoked salmon. A small peach. Later ice cream.
D: beefburgers (no bun) with salad. These particular burgers were from the meat counter in Waitrose bought some time ago and frozen. They are really big and juicy. Must see if they still do them

Oh no, that is the absolute worst. I'm really sorry - it's crazy that you have to pause it BECAUSE it's working!

Thanks for your support! I think they were worried because I'd lost so much weight relatively quickly (it's not just the pills - I am definitely trying to help it along a bit!) and because my insides are so very moody so frequently. I am on 3-yearly colonoscopies, as they discovered polyps inside me on the first one (and, would you believe, he tattooed the place! I didn't know I had a tattoo!), and there has never been any sign of cancer, so I'm 99% sure it's not that. I think it's just the semaglutide working.

Supper pudding ended up being the last of the creme caramels, which were delicious. Food was slightly all over the place today with my hair appointment at lunchtime, and then my brother-in-law is down from Scotland and somehow this led to my husband's meals being rather disordered, too. I was quite surprised we were able to eat our supper at 18:45 (early, because he had a 19:30 meeting).

My mother gave me some wagyu beef burgers awhile ago, which have rather spoilt me for any others! Goodness, they were delicious. We also, as a family, love venison burgers - Sainsbury's seem to do some interesting ones, so I might get some next time I'm there. Family holidays in Scotland gave us a taste for them, and for venison sausages.

I have egg yolks to use up as my panda flour loaf recipe uses lots of egg whites and I made two loaves yesterday! So I am hoping to make a new panda pasta recipe that uses only the egg yolks with Panda Flour and olive oil plus salt. The recipe I've used successfully before uses whole eggs. The rolling out needs time and patience but the dough is very well behaved and gather that the egg yolk one is even easier to work with so I'm crossing fingers. I'm planning on doing some lasagne portions for the freezer for future ready meals. Will get bolognese into slow cooker this morning so It's ready for assembling this afternoon.
It's fish Friday though so salmon is on the menu for dinner.
Hope everyone has a good Friday whatever your plans.
