Finally the storm and rain are over, so I went sailing yesterday!

I also nailed this diabetes thing, despite the cold and unusual activity!

The sailing looks fantastic but I bet it wasn't very warm. Your companion's boots also look interesting. Much better than plain black, green or yellow.

Well done on your BGs. You've nailed it. I didn't today. Must have got my insulin wrong because I'm just coming out of another hypo - 3.3 this time but very hot and bothered and shaky. Had some very sweet fondant kind of sweets (more leftovers from Christmas) and then had some toast and Marmite. Pulse is still a bit fast and noisy and muscles a bit weak and shaky, but it will pass no doubt, fairly quickly. Trouble is - I'm now running out of test strips to check BG. Only 5 left. I have some on order but they won't come for another 3 days. Just hoping my new sensors come before that. By that, I mean tomorrow otherwise I'm going to be just guessing.

You're on insulin so you need those teststrips.
Is there a pharmacy where you or your son can go tomorrow? They'll have teststrips, and meters if they don't have your particular brand of strips.

Panic over - I hauled everything out of my medicines box, which is just a jumble at the best of times, and I found another pack of test strips. So I now have 55 in hand. Still hoping my new sensors will come tomorrow though.

Do check the date!

Still no sensors and my test strips aren't in either. Lucky I still have the slightly out of date ones. Another low day, it seems. FBG 5.9, dropped to 5.5 after breakfast of eggs, bacon and wholemeal toast. By the time I got to the hospital for my iron infusion it was still going down (5.0). I had taken some digestive biscuits with me in case of an emergency but on the ward they gave me tea and toast. I decided that toast was better than sweetened biscuits so had that. BG currently 7.9. I'll keep an eye on it.

G was pretty good all day yesterday - slight rise towards night, but no problems. Today FBG was 5.0 and now after breakfast it is 8.9 - so not another very low day today. Different breakfast, no bacon but still 2 eggs and 1 slice of toast. Wonder if having the bacon brings it down.

Today started out well. BG was pretty good and I actually felt reasonably energetic. "That must be the iron kicking in," I thought. So out I went to put the bins out (it's that day again, they seem to come around very quickly these days). It was painful, but I could, and did, do it. Got back into the house and then crashed. That used up all the energy I had available.

Pharmacy says they'll let me know when my sensors are in. In other words, "Stop asking us."

I'll recover a bit and then see if I can do any more today - still a load of washing to fold and put away plus a bed to make. I didn't get around to it yesterday so just spent the night in the big chair. Really must get it done.

Got a soggy letter out of the mailbox from the hospital on Sunday, it has now dried out so i could open it with out it disintegrating It's from the oncology unit telling me come in for appointment next Monday 10:00 am for another batch of blood tests, then they will decide on whether to give me another bags of blood or i ron.

So that's that day gone, good job I did not have any other appointments that day other than Blue Care who come early Mondays.

I have to admit - I am amazed! 3+ years ago I saw my GP about my breathlessness, which was really only bad when I did anything energetic (walking) but a chest Xray showed nothing, so it was kind of forgotten. Covid made it a whole lot worse and it has been getting more and more disabling since then (March 2020), as has my energy level despite doctors looking for something and finding nothing. Last week I received one litre of iron and on Monday of this week a further 0.5 litre. By yesterday afternoon I had my energy back and today despite the usual pains from arthritis and still a little difficulty breathing when laying down, I am loads better. I can actually do things without feeling that I am going to die any moment. I didn't expect this kind of improvement. Hurrah for iron infusions. (Better keep up the red meat etc though.)

I was speaking to one of my SIL'S today. She lives on Lake MacQuarrie at Summerland Point. She was saying that they've had some flooding but nowhere near as bad as some areas of Sydney. I suspect the Ponds will be flooded. She said though that Lismore is really bad and they reckon there's more to follow this week.
As if that wasn't enough, they had a cruise cancelled 2 years ago (and it remained cancelled) due to Covid. They thought they'd finally get over this year to get the cruise and holiday with us. It's been cancelled again because it included Russian ports!

Lismore was mentioned on the news last night on SBS they were rounding up cattle and sheep to higher ground. it's amazing seeing little calves swimming with the older cattle.

Hope your sister in law is not badly effected with the water and mud there.

Our local area news on 70 stops at Gympie, there is not a lot of love in the regional areas for the south east corner of Queensland when it comes to floods, as all resources suddenly disappear from the regional areas.

I had a visit from a clinical nurse from the base hospital palliative care services yesterday, had a load of paper work to sign as a covid 19 catchup regarding telephone interviews etc. I also had a lot of info leaflets given me to read.

She also said that she and her dept. will be my replacement for the Nurse Navigator service, so I asked her what freebies she can get for my leg. Was told not worry about stuff like that. So all good, I am a lot happier now that I still have some personal liaison with the hospital. No more holding my hand when I see my GP or Cardiologist though.

Had a text message from the Woolies truck driver just after getting out of bed, saying I am next on the delivery list at 4:30am.

He was on time, he said he had a full load on and every one was short because of stuff being out stock, once he was finished the run he was going home.

We never got any of frozen stuff, and some fresh veggies were missing as well.

My sugar free liquorice arrived though, the atkuns bars will be here tomorrow.

4.30 am? What kind of hours do these fellows work? Or is it always an overnight delivery? Are supplies short because of the flooding? Glad, at least that you got your liquorice.

It's very good to have my energy levels back to what they should be but there is one drawback - I use it to do things I haven't been able to do recently and that leads to putting strain on the painful joints. Legs, feet, back, shoulders, hands, letting me know all about it just now.

Got my replacement sensor from Abbott and it's working fine. Still waiting for replacement for the second one, which the pharmacy was ordering. Also my Accuchek strips arrived today, so I'm allright for a while (as long as the sensor doesn't drop off).

Edited to finish what I was saying and to correct typos.

Take it easy and build up a bit more slowly? Your joints will thank you for it!

I received a mystery package today!

It's by a very posh dried sausage making company so I expect it will hold something very yummy.
But as it will be my birthday in 3 days, I also expect it to be a birthday present.

So I'll put it somewhere out of reach of the cats and dogs, and see how much self control I have over the next few days! :angelic:

An update will follow on sunday of course, as soon as I've opened my package!
