"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Sounds like a lovely weekend @RosemaryJackson. We had fun as well in London. Hubby went to see Springsteen which he loved. The Boss is in his mid seventies now and on stage for 3hours non-stop. I went to Hello Dolly at the Palladium which was very good as well. V. hot in London and I did succumb to a gelato in Covent garden. Found the FarmerJ’s chain restaurant yesterday which was very good. You choose a base in my case, spinach leaves, a protein-tahini chicken and two veggie sides-roast cauliflower and green beans and courgettes. Enjoyed it,was very tasty.
Enjoy the sunshine everyone, stay cool if you can. Off to Sandringham flower show on Weds with my sister and the King and Queen! Hope it is a bit cooler then.

@Antje77 you certainly are busy but sounds like you are having fun and a winner for keeping up with the swimming. Loving everyone's weekend experiences.
My weekend plans included a trip to Southport and to Another Place the installation by Antony Gormley on the beach at Crosby. Wonderful trip really enjoyed it and weather was amazing too the photo below is one of the mainly submerged figures. There are 100 in total but tide was coming in fast when we visited so many of them were fully submerged

A very ordinary day here, by comparison to all your wonderfully diverse days.:)

A 40 minute walk
Coffee with friends
L: egg, ham and salad. Small ice cream
A snooze
D: steak and green beans. A glass white wine.
A 20 minute walk

Loving your new avatar @shelley262. I swear the scent is wafting through my screen!

Bad day today. No food and minimal fluids. My arthritis (or something) has flared up again and I can barely move. Don't feel like eating and I'm keeping fluids to a minimum so I don't have to try to get to the toilet. BG is in the 8-10 range despite no food. Probably OK by tomorrow. Hands are playing up as well, so I need to stop typing.

Thinking of you - do hope that your flare up calms down soon. It sounds very painful and debilitating take care.

B: 3 small scrambled eggs at 10, hoping they'd sustain me through another social coffee with friends. It worked as I had no interest in all the cakes and scones they were buying and eating. I had iced coffee.
L: some pate and some cheese in mini gem lettuce leaves as rollups with a bit of coleslaw. A small ice cream
A very hot meeting with solicitor re wills
D 2 90% sausages on a sauce/stew of lentil, carrots and tomato which I found lurking at the back of the freezer. Another small ice cream. And a white wine.

Yet again too many carbs creeping in.

Boy, its hot!!!

So sorry whatever this is has flared up again @Annb just as we thought you were on the mend.

Some of us revel in blue skies and sunshine, but if you're feeling one degree under, a heat wave tends to aggravate symptoms and makes pain and swelling feel worse.

We tend to underestimate the fluid lost through perspiration, especially in warm weather, so do make sure you take sufficient fluid on board. Sending gentle hugs and well wishes for a steady recovery.

I hope you'll feel better tomorrow @Annb , sounds like a rubbish day.

Yesterday I made 3 days worth of zuurkoolstamppot (sauerkraut mixed with cauliflower mash and things like mustard, Branston pickles (I can go wild on it now I finally got my ferry tickets booked for October), a stock cube, a generous knob of butter, and some leftover cream cheese.
Served with rookworst and zuurkoolspek, the latter both traditionally boiled and fried after boiling. :hungry:

My head felt very full from all the goings on with people yesterday, so I decided to spend the night in my garden and finally finish my book. ('In the lives of puppets' by T.J. Klune, I liked it!)
Being outside always makes for less noise in my head, despite mosquitoes and flies trying to compensate with their own noise.

Today diabetes behaved oddly, I don't mind spending most of my time in the 4's but I didn't understand either. The answer came late today, it was one of those surprise periods you get at 47. Until a year ago, this was standard the day before, but things have been unpredictable since.

Astrid invited me for another barbecue at 8 pm, so I tried to borrow Tales bike and tyre pump. Pump didn't fit, saddle was too high, tyres were too soft, bike was in a high gear not suitable for trying in the garden. Never mind, it's just skin, nothing worse. :bag: And nobody saw my stupid action! :angelic:

Walked to Astrid's place with the bike where we fixed tyres and saddle height with the right equipment. I had a pear flavoured ice lolly (11 carbs) on the way, which was brilliant for both mood and bg.
Had a tasty and very diabetes friendly barbecue. :hungry:

And then picked a fight with Astrid and Tale. My arm that isn't functioning well is something that bothers me, and I'm trying to get to terms with this. They said some things that landed completely wrong with me (yay upcoming period and being unreasonable on top of being right. :bag:).
I walked away for ten minutes before deciding that not having tobacco or anything to monitor my bg was a bad idea, so I went back and asked Tale if I could borrow his electric bike for half an hour. No problem, so I took a bit of water melon to nudge up my bg a little and rode to our swimming spot for a late night swim in the almost dark to try and get rid of my frustration.

It helped a little, Astrid and I had some more not too friendly words before deciding we basically agreed, Tale left before that, utterly unhappy.
First time I had something like this happen with either of them. No problem with Astrid, she's clearly used to clashing, talking it through, and solving. Tale, not so much, l sent him a friendly text message to apologise when I got home.
The plan for tomorrow is to have a swim with Astrid in the morning, and a swim with the three of us in salt water when Tale is back from work. Hopefully this will clear up his mind as well.

Hug for the grazed knee and for the aggrevation. I know some women are very touchy around their period and others don't understand what is happening. Never happened to me, for which I consider myself very lucky (also never an issue with menopause - also very lucky). Thanks @ANTJE and @LivingLightly for the sympathy. Things are slightly improved today - with a lot of effort, I can stand and "walk". Still sore but not so shaky. Give it a couple of days and I'll be back to normal.

I expect to eat today but right now, I don't know what. All the stores are in the back porch so I'll have to wait until Neil surfaces to go and resupply me - I'm not daft enough to think I can get out there and then back with an armful of eggs, bacon, milk and anything else I can find in the fridge - not very much there because Neil hasn't been great these last few days and couldn't drive to town to do the shopping. Might just have some tinned sardines on RyVita - both in the kitchen already.

@ANTJE, a great big hug for all you went thro! Yes, it's only skin but that will feel very sore and stiff. Hope it soon feels better. @Annb, you really do suffer and I feel for you. Glad you are feeling a little better. A big hug for you too. I have Arthritis in my spine and thumbs so I know how debilitating it can be. Can only hope the warm weather will ease it a bit.

Not sore, nor stiff, apparently I'm still quite bouncy at 47! :joyful:

I went for a long swim with Astrid this morning so I finally know what it looks like around the corner in our swimming spot.

Looking forward to swimming in the sea again later today.

Mood has lifted again, but still very frustrated with the stupid arm, I'll need to work on that. :(

B: full fat greek with a small, very hard flat peach and milled seeds
Supermarket shopping
L: 2 cold sausages. A small ice cream
A snooze, for nearly 2 hours!
D: pork fillet with mushrooms and cream, served on 2 tablespoons lentils
30 minute stroll
9pm hunger pangs so cheese

@Antje77 does swimming with only one working arm mean you mainly go in circles? ;)
Remind me what the medics are currently thinking about that non working arm?

You had me spit out my nightcap, good thing I'm sleeping in the garden tonight, no need for cleaning up the grass! :hilarious:

Thankfully, it's only some muscles that are affected by nerves refusing to relay messages, lots of muscles left to do most of the job.
But I feel rather handicapped, and I'm reminded of it with everything I do because the arm feels wrong somehow.
Swimming goes pretty well, although I do notice the arm functions less afterwards. You may cross fingers this doesn't mean the physio will tell me to stop swimming tomorrow...

The cause is as of yet unknown, hopefully an MRI will shed some light, but it's another 6 weeks wait.

In the mean time, I have rather loud neighbours quacking away some 2 feet from my bed. :joyful:

Good luck with your physio appointment today. Hope it goes well.

I managed to stand up for long enough to scramble some eggs for my breakfast today, so things are looking up. Loads of painkillers over the last few days but I can stand up relatively easily now and drag myself around, although standing still for too long isn't yet adviseable. Each time this arthritis flares up it only lasts for a few days before I get back some ability to move but each time I recover to a slightly lower level than before. A kind of war of attrition. Not to worry, I will, at least, be able to get to the Health Centre today to see what can be done about my (now) tree trunks of legs.

2nd meal depends on what Neil can get in the shops today and what I can manage to prepare and cook.
