@sueh21 enjoy Strasbourg next week hope your bug has fully gone so you can enjoy. We are having our granddog Cooper for a few nights sleepover next week and looking forward to it.
@maglil55 well done on your Christmas shopping and energy company sorting - I admire your organisation .
@Antje77 your wrapped swan made me smile - what a feat I'd have just put a big red bow around it's neck! Enjoy Sinterklaas tomorrow and the early surprise swan giving today.
I'm not fully organised yet!! I do have my lists. A few more presents still to get. Main butcher stuff ordered and my shopping delivery slot is secured. Christmas tree went up yesterday.

The kids are practicing for their nativity, and they are still singing "release my wee dad" rather than "Feliz Navidad".

We've been lucky with the weather compared to some of you. We have had heavy rain, but no flooding thankfully.

Now I just need to get hubby to comply with my order of doing things.

Tuesday

With hubby having been unwell I suggested fish may be a good idea today. In-between trips to collect online orders, I headed to the fish hut to buy some freshly landed sole.

B. TAG and Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Pan fried sole, alioli and a cobette.

Wednesday

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ham and mustard. Benecol dairy free

L. Nothing

D. Boys were here and they had requested mince, mashed potato, and peas&broccoli. I had mince and the veg later. DGF mince pie with a dash of cream.

Youngest is very hungry just now. He has training and time trials at the swimming all week so he's on double portions! 20241203_185423.jpg

I taught myself to "like" brandy in coffee. I can manage Jamesons Irish whisky as well. I can't honestly say it's my favourite but I have discovered that Tia Maria is now much too sweet for me. Practice makes perfect I suppose.
Thank you for the selfless research :p

Reminds me of the time we were on a cruise that called in to Madeira. We rode up the cable cars only to find the altitude made it much too cold for us in t shirts and shorts so we headed to a cafe. Intending just simple coffee we found they did coffee with brandy, and lovely and warming it was too, even at 10:00 in the morning :cat:

Fasted until 12:00 when, after exercise class, they provided coffee and mine pies. I nearly resisted but they were home made and very small with thin pastry so I had one. Instant rise from 5 to 9.
At least visual graph will help me resist in future. So clear.
L: 3 eggs scrambled
D: bolognaise mince. Some olives. A sq 85% chocolate and 2 small glasses wine with soda.

Off on hols tomorrow. Fridge now empty. Bags packed.
Touring Christmas markets in Germany. Taking an insulated cup which I will fill with mint tea to drink instead of the hot chocolate and mulled wine. Also taking some nuts and nut bars. Telling myself to limit tastes to 1 bite only... fingers crossed. Pray for me to get self control please.

Enjoy your hols. Have you tried ginger tea? I find it very warming and often take a few individually wrapped tea bags out so I can get hot water and add my own teabag. I like mint tea but not as much in winter.

Breakfast at the airport, 3 scrambled eggs on toast (which I left) and 2 rashers bacon.
Travel meant lunch got missed, but then found at the help yourself, free all day tea and coffee station they also provide free homemade cookies :arghh:

Wine before and during dinner, salad, a very good steak and cheese to follow.

Bg has mostly behaved itself but rose with the stress of early start and motorway.

We're on a group tour, turns out fellow travellers are mostly American.

Morning all. 5.9 again! BUT it's my first Christmas lunch today. Prawn cocktail. Turkey with the trimmings. Christmas pudding with custard. If I'm strong enough, I will bring the pud home and take it to the old gent who lives across from me. On a Monday I take him to Monday lunch club. He's 94 and still going strong. He likes to say, I've got a good memory but it's short. I know the feeling! Have a great day all.

B: omelette with mushrooms and spinach. 1 slice ham, 2 slices cheese. Small yoghurt with seeds.
A very cold walking tour of a town.
Back on board needed a hot drink and those dammed cookies were there! Had 1.
L: red pepper soup, Nicole salad, cheese.
Then, only 2 hours after they served afternoon tea!!! Kept to 1 biscuit.

Still feeling full, and only 2 hours until dinner....!

Hi everyone, I am back if only for one day - hope for longer! I've been stuck in the doldrums of denial for months.

I have been out of touch so please forgive me - it will be a mammoth task to catch up on everyone's doings! Are you on a cruise MrsA2?

My HbA1c is looming (I'm actually a bit late with it) and I have gained almost all the weight back that I lost - not an unfamiliar tale, right? My morning weigh in today gave me the final jolt to go low carb/no carb for a while.

Water and green tea to drink through the day.

I had a 3 egg omelette this morning, whisked the eggs with some cream cheese and cooked with some bacon and spring onion.

Made some "devilled" eggs, hard boiled, halved, yolks mixed with cream cheese and bacon bits, seasoned with a little chilli powder and white pepper, returned to the whites. I have been snacking on those and some pork crackling, with cucumber.

I've made some belly pork bits and will have some of those with cucumber for tea, but not really very hungry now - eggs are great for moderating my appetite.

Looking forward to seeing how everyone is doing but catch up will be slow, apologies! x

So pleased to see you back. Well done on getting back on the saddle. What matters is today and moving forward.

Thanks @shelley262, it's funny I had exactly that thought this morning as I was gearing up for another carb binging day - I told myself just do one day of low carb and see how it goes from there. I picked up and put down some carb items through the day, and I've made it without giving in!

Carb binging makes me miserable but for some weird reason, I keep expecting it to make me happy. I think it's food addiction at its most powerful.

Good that you're back. A nice, carb light, day today. Keep up the good work. I know it's really hard to ditch the carbs but just think of the damage you might be doing by having them.
