"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Spoke to the nurse but she could only suggest asking the GP for stronger painkillers. She reckons it will take about 2 weeks for results of the monitoring to get back to the GP. Actually, feeling a bit better this afternoon - once I had a deep sleep in the big chair. Heart not so jittery and managed to walk across the floor to make the cup of tea I have beside me at the moment. That allowed Neil to have a bit of time to catch up on his sleep as well. All to the good for both of us.
Pleased to hear you are feeling a bit improved today - it's amazing just how much a good sleep helps it seems to reset your body. You take care we really appreciate you.

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling this bad again, I hope they'll be able to figure out what is wrong, and more importantly, do something about it.
Could this be related to your kidney issues?
Tagging @Grant_Vicat , I know next to nothing about kidneys, he does.

And nothing overdramatic about preparing. We'll all disappear at some point, no matter if it'll take us many more years or a short while. I have no reason to expect to die for a long while and still my friends know to contact the forum because there are people here who care about me and would want to know. The same goes for you @Annb .
I think it's very thoughtful of you to make sure we'll know if anything happens, thank you!

I was confronted with the unpredictability of life just now.
An hour ago, one of my best friends called me to let me know one of his dogs had just been run over by a car, he was waiting for the animal ambulance, and he thought she had already died.
The dog. Lisy, is the sister of my own dog, I was there when she was born and took care of mum and her 5 pups in my house for the first 8 or 10 weeks. Lisy and her mum are my regular sleepover dogs, often staying with me for a weekend, a week, sometimes longer. Very much a part of my life for the past almost 12 years.
Today my friend Ray and I went to Germany to buy cheap tobacco so his dogs stayed with mine while we were away. Lisy's happiness when she came in this morning for a big cuddle was the last time I touched her, and I had no idea.

It hurts.

Big hugs from me very sad and sudden too.

Big hug to both @Annb and @Antje77. New glasses made absolutely no difference, I was so disappointed. Had another scan but eyes haven't worsened since my last test which was only a couple of weeks or so ago. The main problem is Macular Degeneration. So there is nothing can be done. Grandson also had an eye test and has to have new glasses! He flies to USA on tuesday so I have too pick them up on the 16th and send them to him. At the moment, nothing is going to plan. But tomorrow, I go on a coach trip to Stamford and I'm looking forward to it. I've been in Lincolnshiresince I was 9 and have never been there.

Enjoy Stamford we lived nearby a lot of years ago! Lovely market town.

Hope you enjoy the coach trip and Stamford itself. Never been there but have heard of it as a lovely place to visit. Not far from where some of my ancestors came from (William Cecil and his lot).

My aches and pains have considerably reduced today. Knobbly joints seem to be developing on fingers and feet which hasn't been helping. Still sore but I can get out of a chair by myself and can walk around with some difficulty. Couldn't do that for the last few days. Plenty more rest I reckon should sort it out - not the knobbles, of course, they are there and not likely to go away.

Might manage to make some food for myself today - thinking cauliflower cheese. I have had some RyVita with Marmite for breakfast and that will do for quite a while.

We are in the midst of our “ southern” winter stay. Can’t believe January is already gone. Im having to be more selective about our meals this year as we sold our house here in the summer and this is our first year renting. The kitchen here has Teflon coated everything so we bought a used cast iron skillet and a baking tray with parchment paper. They are having to suffice for cooking as no BBQs are allowed at this building.
Breakfast, lox, cream cheese onion, tomato and capers on half a bagel. Too many carbs for me in a bagel but it was followed by a lot of exercise to keep things level.
Lunch, the same toppings but on a half slice of sourdough from local bakery, much better response.
Dinner will be local shrimp, cooked , as expected, in the cast iron skillet, with butter and garlic, and a squirt of lemon on mixed leaves. I have some planned over simple cocktail sauce I made yesterday but hadn’t noticed hubby had picked up “ extra hot” horseradish. I soon noticed!
Another wonderful day in this paradise.

Forgot to post yesterday. Double dancing was involved, and an apple turnover!
Baked some lc goodies for the freezer

Today
2 scrambled eggs before supermarket shopping. Freezer audit so a few odd bits to eat up.
L: hm lc hummus, pate, coleslaw. 2 lc brownie squares.
D: sausages in cabbage leaves in tomato sauce, cooked by hubby. Very nice. Glass white wine. Glass rum

Were the sausages whole and wrapped in the cabbage leaves? I've never tried it that way but it sound good.

Breakfast was some RyVita with home made cheese spread (just grated cheddar melted into double cream).

Not sure what 2nd meal will be - something ready made from the freezer so it's kind of pot-luck.

Not feeling so great again today. I can still walk and get around but am a bit shaky when doing so and it puts my heart rate up ridiculously.

Went to Stamford yesterday and it was not the nicest of days. It was sooo cold, every time we turned a corner, the icy wind made our eyes water. we spent the last hour of our day there in the warm coach getting warm again. There were not the normal amount of stalls but I couldn't blame anyone for not wanting to stand there! From there we went to Skinnington to a church hall for soup and sweet. Definitely not for a diabetic with no self control! The ladies who served us were really nice and friendly. But it was a day out and we had some laughs. Next event is our local Panto...**** Turpin on the 22nd.

Yoga class cancelled this morning, but quite proud I did one on line in the spare bedroom instead.
L: hm mushroom soup, hm lc hummus on hm soda bread.
Headache so slept 2 hours in chair.
Had a proper bath! A real treat.
Out at a quiz. Too many crisps even though I'd taken my own cheese crisps and olives. Main was a ploughman's so I swapped my slice of ham and bread for lactose intolerant friends cheese. Result!
Far too much wine.

Cauliflower soup with an egg stirred into it for breakfast. Idiot me pressed the wrong button on the microwave and, using the combi-oven mode, I managed to melt the plastic freezer pot, spill the soup and make a mess of the microwave. Most of the soup was salvageable though,

2nd meal is a mixed offal casserole out of the freezer.

Far too much wine last night. Still staggering as I went to bed at 02:00
Slept to 10 and didn’t rise until 11:30
L: cwc, then leftover sausage and cabbage bake. Later 2 nut bars
Another migraine! Stopped this one with medication and a sleep.
Feel a bit achy coldy
D: roast chicken with buttered leeks and carrots. A small ice cream.
Later glass of spiced rum.

Hug for the migraine but glad it improved with sleep.

Well out of step. Hardly slept a wink last night. Hunger was one if the problems so eventually got up and had first breakfast of 2 chicken drumsticks at 06:00.
Second breakfast at 10 was a sizeable chunk of Manchego cheese.
Exercise class, coffee after.
Lunch was scrambled egg with bacon. A lc hot chocolate.
A nap, but only an hour.
Baking, not lc, ready to freeze for a fundraiser in a couple of weeks
D: chicken reheated in condensed soup, served with green beans. Ff greek with chopped brazils and 85% chocolate

Mornng all. Well, I have my grandson for another week. He was diagnosed with an ongoing infection and given anti-biotics so obviously was too poorly to fly. My gain albeit not nice for the way he feels. I didn't eat much yesterday and my bg was down considerably. That tells me I am eating too much so let's try that! Have a happy tuesday everyone.

Hug for your grandson but, at least you are a bit of a winner, keeping him with you. Hope he feels better soon though.

My breakfast is waiting for me - cauliflower soup with some sausage meatballs as kind of croutons.

Maybe steak with mushrooms and onions for 2nd meal.

Ooh the soup sounds nice, what a good idea, sausage croutons. I am making a beef stew with low carb dumplings. Still on winter food here, definitely not salad weather!
