I don't put sweetener in anything anymore (mainly because I don't want to risk poisoning the dog). it does change the taste but you can get used to it (eventually - it does take a while!). I do make chocolate mug cake without sweetener:)

Wow. Hardcore! I'm too much of a wimp.

I use xylitol, which is very different from the vile chemical synthetic sweeteners.

But it ain't anywhere as 'natural' as the blurb claims, so I try to keep to small quantities. Basically 1/2 tsp in huge mug of coffee, and any LC baking, which is less than once a week.

I can't cope with the stress of the dog eating the cake - which we would given half a chance. It happened once and that was enough! I use vanilla essence to sweeten. I keep saying I am going to treat myself to some proper vanilla essence from Lakeland which is quite expensive.

OMG
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you for posting that.
I just googled it.
Had no idea xylitol was toxic to dogs. A tiny amount could kill him. Horribly.

Will stop using it immediately.

The hound says 'thank you' too!

Oh my word. How cute is he??? :)

I know. And he's an utterly wonderful personality too.
I should stop posting his pic on here. I just can't help it. He's so gorgeous I want to share.
The pic, not the Little Man, of course. ;)

Brunneria he is so cute.

When we phoned the vet she said they have seen an increasing amount of xylitol poisonings in dogs. It's very scary.
