with reading lots on this site, I am not sure what people class as a spike.

I think from talking to my doctor yesterday, that he beleives going up two points after dinner is acceptable.

Is this the case?

A "spike" is a term related to graphs. If you were to monitor someone's BG continuously, a rise of short duration would look like a spike on the line
2 points up an hour after eating,( maximum is reached about 70 minutes after beginning the meal) from a lowish pre-meal level isn't too bad, but it's perfectly possible to keep it to less than that either by medication or eating fewer carbs.
I don't spike that much after eating and keep to beween 4 and 6 at any time during the day., because I eat very few carbs.

Thats really helpful.

Thanks.

I have cut the carbs down, but I think (alghough not counting) that it is below 100 - maybe even now below 80.

That is not bad, two weeks in, from probably 3-400 a day.

Well done. You are on the right track. Took me a month to get below 50 carbs a day. Stick with it.

Ken
