when my sugar goes high and being a pin cushion!!
Hi, although ive been diabetic for over a year now, ive not been able to work because of neuropathy and pending operations.
I now have a job as nursery nurse. because its my first job since being diagnosed i dont know what kind of levels i should be at.
its 8.00-6.00 5 days a week and im always running about and its a very energetic job.

my instinct is to run at highish levels like 11-14mmol but i dont want to damage my bodyand know i shouldnt be doing it..

can anyone help?????

There is no reason why your Bg levels need to be any different just because you are working. You should control the levels at all times, working or not !

As a T1 your levels should at least be within the following guideline figures.
Fasting (waking)...............between 4 - 7 mmol/l.
2 hrs after meals.............no more than 9 mmol/l.
If you can keep the post meal numbers lower then that is so much better.

Trying to keep the numbers any higher is not a good idea, not if you value your health anyway. You know those levels are not good so why would you even think that they are advisable ? :?

I personally run at between 4 and 6.
i am retired, but I have toddler grandchild for the day once a week and still keep there.
