What next?

Type of diabetes

So hubby is type 2 for about 8 years his levels have gone up so he's trying low carb and pioglitazone 15mg if this doesn't help what next he doesn't want to go onto insulin
 
*if* it doesn't help, then I suppose you could go lower carb, or look into other medications or look into exercise programmes.
But maybe it will help: low carb does have a good track record for reducing levels.

Hi. Pioglitazone is no longer a generally recommended drug as it does have some side effects despite working well. I was offered it a few years back before I went on insulin but declined due to the side effects. T2s will normally be on Metformin and then possibly Gliclazide and/or Sitagliptin but there are some newer tablets as well. Is your husband slim or have excess weight? Always worth checking as GPs sometimes get the T1/T2 diagnosis wrong.
