What should I do before going to gym first?

Hi, Id like to lose some weight and work out on gym. So what should I do first? I had meeting with my GP but forgot to ask about that. Any advices what exercises should I do and what to eat or what not to eat? Im begineer.
 
I became a member at the local gym after being diagnosed and realising I had to make some major changes.

At my gym I was given a personal trainor who took my details (including info about my diabetes) and they will also take your blood pressure. My trainer put me on an easy programe and when I want to move on, I will ask him for advice - they should give you some guidance as to what to do.

I don't do all my machines because 1) its often too busy and 2) I can't really remember how they work ... ahaha - but that will come.

If you want to go to the gym then go. There's nothing you need to "Prepare" before going to the gym.

Start with the basics as you familiarize yourself, but make a habit out of going consistently.
 
Hi Michik, I am no specialist, but I have been exercising regularly since many years now. I stopped paying too much attention on eating around workout sessions. I eat 3 meals a day and try to make sure I don't eat too much just before exercise, which I often ignore as well ;) Since having diabetes I stopped 'feeding' myself all the time. In addition, I am not eating large amounts of protein, as my body would turn the excess into glucose. Hence, I ditch fancy protein drinks. In terms of energy, I expect my body to be able to handle exercise with and without food before and after. I suggest you try the gym and different diets, and, just with general diets, find out what works best for you.
 
Well I really don't know what's going on with me. I lift 5 days a week doing 2 a days and also cardio on my climber. I'm eating healthy , couple small healthy meals a day, then for supper I eat a small serving. I can see my muscles getting more toned and I see a difference in my mid section but my question is why am I still gaining weight? I barely get sore anymore and I'm doing everything right. To my knowledge you lose fat then gain muscle, But I always see the scale getting higher and higher in weight. I'm in great shape.

You don't lose fat to gain muscle, or gain fat by losing muscle for that matter. Muscle also weighs more than fat (when comparing volume that is). Ergo the scale is the worst tool for measuring muscle gains or fat loss. A measuring tape is much more effective: measure upper legs, belly, chest, upper arms. Those are the places you'll gain and lose the most. If you can see your muscles getting more toned you're not necessarily gaining muscle but most likely losing fat. When your muscles are not accustomed to resistance training they'll grow pretty fast the first couple of weeks even with poor diet. Furthermore muscle soreness is not an indicator of growth.

Also 5 days a week might be a bit much, the trick is not to overdo it. You'll only gain when resting adequately.
