Hi all , and thanks firstly for reading what's about to be a very big rant.

I'm Type 1 , was diagnosed 7 years ago - and I am now at the end of my TETHER with it! I'm sick to death with my care and sick to the bones of this never ending battle. My control has never been good , and it's not due to diet or anything else that I can see. My Hba1C has never ever been below 9 and its depressing me. I'm currently on Novorapid & Lantus and 2 Metformin a day , I'm on anti depresents , I've done DAFNE and still nothing seems to be improving! My sugars have been a lot better since DAFNE , however I'm still getting complications. I hypo at least once a day , even to the stance I had to have an ambulance call at my home because I passed out at 1.4

I just don't know what to do anymore. I discussed a pump with my GP some time ago , but it just feels like they don't want to give me one , my gp is ok with it , but my DSN is all `ul find it hard blah blah its a lot of work blah blah` , What steps can I take ? I've been waiting for a call since WEDNESDAY from my DSN to discuss next steps , but still waiting.

I'm ready to lob the bloody lot of it in the bin and just stop taking anything. I really don't know what to do anymore :(

Do you see a consultant at hospital? As a type 1 it really is advisable.

Hi, sorry to read your struggle. Probably heard it before but I usually have good control but did have a bad spell a few weeks back, feeling exactly the same. I took a deep breath and thought how can I get my control back. Start by getting a diary, not app as alot easier to look at on paper. Think u can print one on here a blood diary . make sure you write down number of carbs, amount of insulin with carb/insulin ratio done. Have your meals, test 2 hours after and no snacks unless needed just for a few weeks. If u do need a snack between meals to avoid going hypo keep them small and healthy. Test before all meals and two hours after all meals. Test before bed and first thing in the morning. try and have evening meals at 6 ish, this wil help see if your overnight basal is correct. It is hard but well with the effort, once you have all your readings you can start adjusting accordingly. Make sure you are 100% certain of amount of carbs eaten, otherwise you won't know your ratios are correct. Once they are, you wil feel loads better as your blood sugars become more stable. Keep posting how your doing, what you've tried etc, will help to let off steam, get advice and help keep u motivated, good luck :) hope u feel better soon.

Hi

It does get easier once you start writing everything down on paper as Brett has suggested. I've always used a bg diary to monitor all my bg results and wouldn't want to have it any other way.

If you do as Brett has suggested and also get hold of a 0.5u pen to deliver your insulin it will make altering your carb ratios a bit more accurate as you can use 1.5u to 10g carb instead of just 1.0u to 10g depending on which way up or down your bg levels go. If 1u to 10g is not enough but 1.5u to 10g is a bit too much, you can adjust your ratio to be in between like 1.5u to 12g and whatever amount of carb you eat, you can just divide the carb ratio into the carb eaten and then test bg to see what the effect is. Do you know about the 100 rule to work out your correction factor? Also, what bg level are you aiming to be before you eat your main meals?

Lastly, I luv a cuppa coffee so tomorrow make a gallon of it, write down your bg levels with amount of carb eaten, insulin injected and we'll see if we can give you some help :)
