What to do with old meters

Hi, I am Type1 diabetic and have been for about 20 years. I have recently been upgraded to new meters by Roche, this leaves me with 3 meters that have been in daily use for some while. These older meters (one is new) are fully functional and I would like to know if there is anyone (Charity or aid organisation) that can benefit from these.

Hello badcoach123 - though I am sure that you are not bad at all :-)

I have in the past contacted various agencies re donating my old meters and have not yet found a charity that would take them, however I have only this last Monday spoken to someone from an organisation called Mercyships and they may well be interested, their manager is out of the office until next week, his PA certainly seemed enthusiastic about my offer, so maybe this charity could put them to good use, I will let you know.

I have also found a lady who keeps travelling back to Sudan and she would be grateful for a couple of meters, you could post them and she said she would reimburse the postage or send you a padded sae if you prefer?
I have already given my unused meters to a lady who took them back to her home country Uganda where they were gratefully received.

So watch this space for an update re this issue.

All the best

Karen
