Hi
I have just been diagnosed T2 2 weeks ago, I dont drink hot drinks at all, I usualy drink juice.
What would be a good drink apart from water for me.

Tomato juice is what I go for at breakfast time - although some low carbers wouldn't even have that.

Diet versions of most drinks would probably be OK - but essential to read the label.

I usualy drink Robinson special R
It says on the label 1.1g sugar per 100ml undiluted so diluting that at 1 part to 5 parts water would make it 1.1g per 600ml.
Is that good or bad.

We use any drink that has, sugar free. Asda do a sugar free lemonade 3 large bottles for £1.20.
Cherryade, orangeade and a lemonade. sugar free and taste nice too.

Iceland do a no added sugar vimto that is also very good.

there are also diet and no added sugar juices in all supermarkets, but always read the label and go for the lowest one.

Hi Vicki65.
I think Orange juice or coconut water is best for you. You should also drink 8 or 10 glass water in per day. I hope you will recover in soon time and i would like to advise you that please take care of your body and you must know that what you should eat and drink.
Last but not least that Get well soon and have a healthy life.
Thank you very much for sharing this.

The Robinson's sounds fine; on the assumption that you are not drinking litres and litres of the stuff...

Unsweetened soya is pretty low too; any diet coke type drink is going to be void of carbohydrates so on that basis would be fine as well, the trouble is all the other junk that's in them and the fact that there may be some suggestion that the sweeteners themselves cause an insulin response; maybe have a search around on the web for stuff on that?

I would avoid orange juice at all costs; I find it raises my blood sugar faster than pretty much anything else.

Lastly, maybe see if you can develop a herbal tea habit; then you'd be fine!

All the best

Just read the "total carbohydrates" on the panel and go from there.

Sugar Free squash.

Hopefully, when you get your diabetes under control, the crazy thirst will go away. You should drink LOTS of water, though. Water is really good for regulating your BG.

I was drinking about 8 litre a day, ended up making 2 ltr bottles up of it at a time, not even bothering with a glass just straight out of the bottle, thats when i realised i had a problem and went to GP.

Clearspring used to do a range of fruit cordials based on concentrated apple juice. Fructose, being an invert sugar, much better than sucrose.
Also, they do a bancha tea which is the roast twigs of the tea bush. Naturally caffeine-free and very refreshing hot drink.
Clearspring used to be Mail-order but I see their products in Holland & Barrett.
Neals Yard [London] do mail order now.

Fructose. What you need to know about it.

Fructose is naturally found in fruit. When it is added to foods as a sweetener it has no advantage to sucrose. It contains just as many calories, still affects blood glucose levels, and when eaten to excess can cause a laxative effect. However, fructose as fruit can be eaten regularly.

Have a read of this link for more information.
