Type of diabetes
LADA
Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
I was told was told I might be type two but when I have the antibodies test it came back highly positive which diagnoses me with type 1, But I dont think this is correct as my bg drops when i'm at work or when i'm just walking if my body wasn't creating that much insulin then it would always be high but recently my bg have been between 4.3 -7.7 never higher or lower I have been researching about it and found out that I may have LADA which is 1.5? they doctor said i might have to take a shot of lantus after I eat but last time the diabetic consultant told me to up my lantus from 10 to 12 my bg dropped low as 3.9 and made me unwell

Is type 1 or 1.5 reversible?
i am currently taking 3 metformin tablets 1 in the morning and 2 after dinner
and 10 units of lantus before bed
GAD Test came back 1235 but i dont think this is correct as it was taking longer then it should have to get the results back {2-3 weeks}

@Usmaan935 LADA is slow onset Type 1. Type 1s/LADAs can retain some of their own insulin production for a while.

If you think your Lantus dose is too high, do speak to,your doctor. You might find it easier using tiny amounts of a bolus insulin and reducing your Lantus slightly.

Hi. Yes, T1.5 (LADA) is slow onset T1 typical of getting it when older. You go thru a honeymoon period when the pancreas still produces some insulin this can last years (as mine did). Taking a shot of Lantus 'after you eat' doesn't make sense as it's a 24 hr insulin. As your LADA progresses (sadly it probably will) you will be best eventually having the Basal/Bolus insulin regime with a 24 Hr Basal such as Lantus and mealtime Bolus such as NovoRapid. No, T1 or T1.5 is not reversible but keep the carbs down and you can keep the insulin and blood sugar swings at a minimum (also weight gain). The Metformin always helps just a little bit.
