What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

A bright and still day in The Brecks, Fbg a very disappointing 6.2 but my own fault. Wrong kind of leeches; sacrificed the wrong breed of cockerel and went anti-clockwise when reciting the incantation - schoolboy errors. Pigs? Literally thousands round here including the Iselham Blue https://www.tfmbutchers.co.uk/more/our-breeds/ . Those guys sell very nice goat and hopefully will still have some mutton - never eaten that or hogget- when we have finished our semi self-isolation - (need to find the hole punch for my belts; new holes needed to stop #fallingtrousersgate). Good morning/evening folks, a 4.9 on the dice today, hello fours it's been a while, hang on I can hear the fives calling, and the sixes in the distance saying come on over it's much more comfortable over here. Ah well I mustn't waste a good cheese on toast score, ttfn.
 
Great stuff. Have 2 slices while you are there. That change of commute has paid of handsomely already - imagine the cheese on toast bills when you actually start!

Morning All. 6.5 today which is not good. Feeling absolutely shattered after the last few days so will be having a quiet day if I can. @trick60 great score, dreamy.
@DJC3 that Gloucester Old Spot mum has her work cut out with seven babies. I can well imagine the girls enjoying the day out. @SaskiaKC I have never seen Hereford pigs before so find them strange. Re mattress I can only report son’s is pocket sprung.
@jjraak I am resolved to the fact we are likely to get CV now but worry about Mr PM’s asthma, I will rely on gin.

If I remember rightly my dad used to talk about three cross doubles, trebles and an accumulator, one of his treats on a Saturday morning, but that was like a foreign language to me never did figure it out, just knew if he managed to win one we got treats.
 
5.3 for me, lamb shoulder marinating in garlic, lemon and thyme ready for slow roasting. A few of the family round for lunch today including youngest’s bf who doesn’t usually come ( I think he’s coming to see Dennis more than the rest of us - he loves dogs so can’t be all bad)
@PenguinMum and @ianpspurs hugs for the higher than desired scores, I hope a nice relaxing day will help. Never heard of Iselham Blue Ian - sounds good. I’ve had hogget though and liked it ( couldn’t tell the difference tbh if cooked long and slow)

We had a lot of snow flurries yesterday @OldButBold but none heavy enough to make a snow angel

5.1 this morning, wish that number was more regular. Had very little cream yesterday so may continue my experiment of ditching cream for a few days. Hope everyone has a great day, outside still very cold up in this neck of the woods wind was up last night but a better day it seems today.

There's nothing wrong with your 6+ PM there are times as we know when we just can't get that 4 5 or 6 for whatever reason...mine have been much higher recently there would have been a time when I could have obsessed about it...not now...it is what it is I know I just have to be patient & find what works best for me.
 
We are having duck as it was taking too much room in the freezer and anyway all these post Christmas bargains need eating.
 
Morning...a brilliantly sunny day don't be misled it's absolutely freezing but I'm thankful there's no rain...watching the news reports of the people up north makes me grateful we've had it easy in comparison...one poor couple have their house completely under water...did so little yesterday got side tracked by some classic old films must stay away from channel 81 today...woke to a 6.6 no hugs needed that's okay considering the last few days.

5.3 this morning. Thought it would have been higher but was tempted by the Almond Butter at 10.30pm last night. So got away with it this time.

@HarryBeau I agree it is absolutely freezing outside - but we are so lucky compared to all those poor people whose homes are flooded.

We have revised our plans for today and are doggie walking close to home as it is just so cold. Highlight of the day will be to go to Holland and Barrett to pick up the delayed part of my subscribe and save order. What fun we have here in Norfolk.

Up on and off all night.
I wasn't happy about Popeye.
Yesterday he appeared fine, did his usual stuff, even leaped on one go from the ground to his high sitting place, to sit in the sun yesterday morning. Then we had the wildest storm of rain and horrendous wind in the afternoon/evening. It really frightened me (I haven't checked outside yet this morning). And so I assumed Popeye huddling under my fleece blanket was suffering from the storm. It was like a giant with an enormous cricket bat was hitting the sides of my bungalow. I definitely felt like the little piggy in the straw house.

Popeye then jumped off no problem from the couch and jumped up on my bed, for the night, no problem. But I wasn't happy with him. Again, nothing I could put my finger on. I had a bit of a sleep, woke up and checked on him, but he didn't want me touching his back right leg. I could see nothing. I couldn't sleep, began a painting in the middle of the night, came back to him. He wouldn't let me touch him, but I couldn't see anything obvious. Then he tried to get up, he couldn't. I thought, you are not dying on me now. You are going to make your 28th birthday in May.

Ended up wrapping him tightly in a towel, he wouldn't let me examine him. Finally I found a tiny bit of fur that had matted near the skin. Got a comb, and gently teasing it out, Popeye protesting very loudly. It was an abscess. And it chose that moment to burst. So hot compresses, poor Popeye protesting. I found two teeth marks.

I have done a second lot of hot compresses just now a few hours later. I will do a couple more today. I will leave him in peace for the moment. Then vet tomorrow, but I have cochlear appointment too tomorrow. I need to be camped outside the vet before it opens so I will be the first, then on to my cochlear appointment.

I have no idea when this happened. He has been going out in the day just for a short while each time, but mostly has chosen to stay in besides me. That couldn't be left over from the cat flap incident, where he was attacked, could it? That is a bit too long ago, isn't it?

So I will be keeping a close eye on him today.

Watercolours. Japanese calligraphy pen. And I mixed some process white with the water colours to create that thicker paint to flick on the trees.



I am a bit in pieces at the moment, tried to boil the kettle with no water in, then I am not hungry, I can't eat while Popeye is like this. Although I do think he will be fine now. His eyes were just black before in the night even with the light on, the pupils completely open, I suppose that was the pain. And an animal cannot tell you. But now his eyes look normal, the black pupils are normal size.

He will be fine now. I am going to check on him. I will leave him on his chair with fleeces on while the abscess is draining. Then hopefully later I can bring him back to where he wants to sit.

I am going to check on him.

Good morning everyone on this white rabbits of a St Davids Day.

The wonder wheel of creeping deceit arranged for a clandestine 5.6 this am- far to much cortisol - my excuse and nobody saw me eat it in the first place.

Hope that your day is a good one - onward with the exercises and upwards with the help of any handy furniture when trying to get back up off the exercise mat - koffy.

 
I agree that we shouldn't need to be told how to avoid spreading viruses. I am often shocked - when I use public loos - that some people don't wash their hands properly or even worse go out without washing them.

gennepher that is a typical 'cat fight' injury...seems like Popeye was trying to get away from a confrontation as he fled he was bitten on the back of his leg...fortunately you've spotted it & given some first aid he is in the warm & being looked after...there isn't much you can do on a Sunday...I know there are some vet practices which have emergency cover could you maybe call them (not sure how much your hearing would impact on a call pardon my ignorance) or look on the internet for some advice...once at the vets they can give him the antibiotics he needs...it happened to a couple of mine several times I always have the vet give them a long standing injection which lasts for 3.4 days...I doubt it is from the fracas seems a while since that happened...you're doing all the right things wondering if you have any pure honey in the meantime I often see the supervet using it to treat infections just to give him a head start.
 
I cannot use the telephone @HarryBeau so I cannot call them. I looked online, but they are just telephone lines, and not open until Monday.
Even the Vetinery Teaching Hospital is closed on a Sunday. Although that is open Monday.
Internet advice says to do the hot compresses 20 mins a time, maybe up to 4 times a day.
You say honey? I have honey...Manuka honey...are you saying the supervet used it on the wound or in the mouth. I googled that but I couldn’t find out.
Popeye is looking better than he was.

UPDATE: I found online advice that suggests you apply it to the wounds...
