What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Afternoon Survivors.

FBG 5.7......whoop whoop...lowest score for weeks...and little change to diet (or alcohol intake )

SO i am now stumbling out of the Covid Slumber,
and the re acquainting myself with the world beyond these wall
is going well.

Pre this week, most trips have been mainly solitary on pablo OR car then walk, then back to pablo/car etc,
though we have recently began meeting steph with SD in play regarding others )

Me & our Steph took santanders bikes to Hyde park.
a mix of walking and cycling between rentals
(30 mins then you must dock and rent another bike, all for the princely sum of £2..great value )

a small matter of passing others who think it's all over, without shouting or dissing anyone,
passed easily.

a little sit down to enjoy the peace and quiet, a catch up on the 11 weeks since lockdown,
and the piece de resistance.. a takeaway dinner had back at ours as a family for the first time in months

Social bubbles, mmhh...
I am going to be guided by The Cummings Principle of Civic duty to us all, now


It was a real sense of 'Normal' that may well be just the 'New Normal' but welcome none the less..


Pablo the scooter has a slow puncture, and something @Muddy Cyclist , mentioned about the cycles
store requiring the cycles for 5 days before beginning work, worried me.

Now i feel more confident about the crisis, i called to get scooter dropped in to repair,
mentioned the 5 days,....

Basically got laughed at.......

dropping in tomorrow morning, they mentioned SD protocols they have in place, so i drop and collect
(i hope ) in the afternoon.

a job i would have done asap, if it hadn't have been for the lock down.
so another little task safely accomplished, i hope.

Onward and upwards
& as always with an eye on the 'R'
Mask, SD, AND brain switched on.

that's the New Normal i'd like ..
until Normal IS Normal once more.

I feel like I'm having a strange day.

After my nap early this morning I went out to collect my medicines, and did a wee bit of shopping next door in the Polish shop. After wiping everything down, and putting it away, I was tired and went to bed for another nap.

Woke up, and went to make a cuppa. The ravens are going ballistic here. I have no idea what's wrong with them but they're very agitated by the way they're flying. And one of them's on my cherry tree bobbing his chest up and down shouting in my direction. I have been outside, and I can't see anything obviously wrong, but I don't know what's upset them. There are at least five of them from the old ancient woods that regularly fly over my property.

I was going to go in the potting shed for the afternoon, and I was carrying Popeye to the potting shed with my stuff, but he got out of my arms and ran back to the door of the the bungalow. So we came back in, and I can only assume that the ravens cries have alarmed him in some way.

So, I want to make another cuppa and the mail just arrived. Half a dozen post-crossing postcards, two personal letters, and three business looking envelopes.

I open one of the business envelopes and it turns out it’s a refund cheque of £50 from my car insurance company because of the coronavirus epidemic. I haven’t opened the other two business envelopes, I’ll leave that delight until tomorrow, a cheque for £50 is quite enough excitement for one day. All I need is for Wales to loosen the lockdown conditions and open up some shops and then I can go and spend my £50 ....

I go back to bed with my cuppa, that is the most comfortable place to sit in and the cat was already there waiting for me.

A text message comes through from the cochlear implant team, informing me that they can do adjustments to my Cochlear speech processor remotely and what Apple product do I have. I reply and I asked for further details on this. They replied back and it turns out an app is being developed, or it’s not quite been completed yet, for them to be able to do this with various Apple devices. More technology to install and try and get to work properly. Actually I’m not quite looking forward to this at all. In the actual room at the hospital when the audiologist connected my cochlear speech processor to her computer, her computer crashed and it made a mess of the settings of my cochlear speech processor.

So to do this remotely, with all the variations of stuff that could go wrong, I do not have confidence in the audiologist’s abilities to be able to do this remotely ....

I need a gin and tonic, And I haven’t even done my daily painting yet. It won’t be a pastel, it is absolutely teaming with rain outside. So what will be my daily painting for today. I haven’t got a clue but I’m ready for another nap....

And Popeye is still upset with the ravens. It is a bit ominous when the ravens act like this...
 
another post reminded me i hadn't had any notification of my (late) HBA1c blood test

so i went online to check docs website for messages, zero,
then looked at my patient records.

and saw this SCR database uploaded.
so i googled....

does sound a strange day.

the ravens could just be sensing the incoming weather, maybe or other events.
Maybe the loss of one of their own.

G&T, indoors out of the rain and a cuddling cat..seems a good day is now being had.
 
Okay, I had a sleep after my G&T, just the one, it might have been a large glass though...

In no mood for any artwork.

I need to do painting and artwork or creative writing first thing in the morning, always have.

So I just checked out all the painting apps I have on my iPad. I paid for a lot of them many years ago, and all the extra brushes etc etc. So, I never took them off the iPad. Just now I tried each one, and couldn't get into the mood for working any of them. Then I came to the last one which was Procreate. I have never used it, or rather I tried many years ago and couldn't figure it out. I know a little bit more now, and find now, it is fairly intuitive. So many brushstrokes and colours. Also easy to create your own on both, and much more.

This painting is me exploring some of the brushstrokes and tools. I found it relaxing. I am content with this painting for a first attempt in it, this is only a beginning with it. I will work more out on using this app later.

I do need to do more 'real' brush and paper painting, but I still need to tidy first.

Anyway, here it is...

 
Wet again here, but went anyway on bike to village shop. Got eggs and less than two mins conversation. Not like yesterday when shopkeeper was friendly and the other customer called me over for a chat as we walked up the road.
If rain keeps off am hoping to put in some seeds in the section dug over few days ago. It's good growing weather. Damp and warm.
 


well i gave a win fir the ride and getting the eggs.

but you seemed disappointed by the lack of chat.

did you take it personal or are people just more busy ?

Grey cloud cover again.
Not a leaf is moving.
Weather app tells me it is raining now.
But it is not, the ground is dry.
If it stays dry, then I will do a pastel this morning when the day gets lighter. So we shall see.
The birds are active.
Grey just sends me to sleep.
Been up since 3 am.
I think I’ll have a nap before the pastel painting.
So steam eye mask on. Cat is already asleep on my chest.

Good Morning and 6 for me today.

Good family virtual meal Friday Evening.

No art yesterday as the Loft Hatch took up all of my day and still is not finished. Oh why do I think I can do this should have just got in an expert. So more Loft Hatch work today.

@gennepher creativity can at times seem to leave us, still a good digital art piece though. The Ravens could be agitated if they have young that have left the nest and are protecting them or feeding them.

Be adventurous but within your own limitations, stay safe.
 
Good morning everyone. Rumour has it a higher power has set fire to the rain around here but some times it lasts with weather and sometimes it hurts. Still at least we aren't rolling in the deep. 4.5 for me although being on Libre Ts and Cs apply. Fascinating example of dawn phenomenon with lovely red graph line. 2.6 @ 5.25, 4.5 @ 5.40. Absolutely no difference in how I felt.* Have a great, socially distanced, which is under review so goodness knows what it will be tomorrow, day.
Edit to amplify *: 4.8 by the time I had abluted, fed dogs and settled for first 800 mls tea and inulin. 5.1 after 1 h/b egg, the 800 mls tea and 2k steps. Much clearer demonstration of how DP works for me than finger stabs could ever give. More tea and inulin- just going through the motions Edit 2: 10 mins after walk back down to 4.6 - the kind of data I really couldn't get from finger stab. Just to finish, 5.2 at brekkie +2 hrs and 4k steps. IMHO for me it is basically low level exercise most hours not diet that works.

Good morning from a damp and quiet morning in the dark and dangerous north. That wonderful quiet you get when camping out on a high place, first thing in the morning, after the rains stops and before the Curlews begin.

The wonder wheel of chicken with chorizo and tomatoes accompanied with a slice or two of home made bread came in at 5.1 this am.

A cousin of mine who has been putting our family history together during the past few years has now started a private (or is it secret) facebook page to deposit old B&W photo’s. She has a tool that then adds colour to them. Some convert to colour very well, others look like a collaboration between Kandinsky and Anish Kapoor. (Note: why do Americans think that anyone else in the world spells colour in any other way? - Do the maths).

Interesting piece of digital art @gennepher - “I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain” sprang to mind.

My painting for today. It is a pastel, done on brown card.

The weather stayed fine, and the sun came out, and so I did a pastel.
This will be the last pastel I do, for some time. All pastel stuff has now been put in garage in the wardrobe in the garage (my magic painting wardrobe)....

I have cut down the vegetation by my front door so my postman can deliver my letters (I never use the front path or front door, and so I never see if the ivy is creeping through the letter box....)

I have a load of washing on. Cooked my breakfast. Fed cat. And done this pastel. I think I have done a full day's work.

So a power nap now, then emails, postcards, letters to write, and I have to make a digital kaleidoscope pattern for someone...

 

I too have a loft hatch that needs repairing and a new handle putting on @Muddy Cyclist
I am sure you will be very competent with loft hatches by the time you have finished...

Thank you about the painting creativity vanishing.

The ravens certainly scared all the smaller birds, and scared the magpies off as well. Magpies can be cheeky and will tackle something they think can be breakfast. But I have seen one of these ravens catch and kill a cheeky magpie midair, and fly off with it. To watch, it was both fascinating and indecent that one bird can catch and kill another its own size while fighting in midair flight.

So you might be right that the ravens were protecting their young.
