it was a misty morning and not too warm and we duly poodled over to mum's before lunch and mr gee took mum to get her medication, he topped up the car with diesel and then just as he was leaving town mum piped up, Oh Dear! I forgot to get my pension back they went

I stayed at mum's with Katy and got the lunch ready.

Back home again mid afternoon and 'voila', sunshine so we put our gardening gear on and went outside to rake up and bag the stuff we strimmed down yesterday

@gennepher - interesting fusion of digital and photographic and I like today's segmented painting very much, the colour blends and graduation are very effective.

We in Wales are still in severe lockdown.

We are still not allowed to travel over to England even though we live right by the border.

We can still only drive a maximum of 5 miles for essential food shopping.

5 miles does not take me any further than a trading estate.

No car parks are open. You're still not allowed to go to the beach or to the docks or parks (gates are locked) or anywhere. As I am disabled, I need these car parks to get my tiny bit of exercise (before lockdown I had a concession to drive into the park so I could sit in the gardens in the middle of it), but since lockdown all that has been denied me (as well as the closed loos, I can barely make it to the local shops and back without needing the loo).

Apparently some shops will be opening (a big thing was made of that), but I need to drive a more than 5 miles to access them. So this latest concession is absolutely blinking ruddy stupidly flipping useless.

Wales will reassess the 5 mile driving distance in three weeks time, but they say the five mile limit will likely still be in place in three weeks time for a further period.

And our police have more powers than English police. They can actually make you drive your car back home and escort you, as well as fine you and lots more. The Welsh police are draconian in this area, and we are the first point of Wales from the North of England. Just been reading about it....

What I do need are my little trips very early morning to sit on a mountain or a beach, and this is what I do this time of year on the early light mornings. And I return home before anyone gets up. It revitalises my soul for the coming winter months. But I am denied that with this 5 mile distance. In the 5 mile circle I live in, three quarters of it is taken up by the river and England. So the quarter of the circle I have left is urbanisation and industry.

Life sucks...

Good morning all from a sunny Suffolk. Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday. 5.1 is the best I could manage today, meh. The smart move would be to ignore bg trends, step counts etc for a day or two. That requires a massive rewiring job undoing 65 years of work. Nice flat line through the night - actually since eating a piece of my LC+GF birthday cake and cream at 8.30 ish. Adaptation of this https://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/c...sour-cream-frosting-low-carb-and-gluten-free/ Cut down to 1/3 size this year as no gathering of the clan and barbeque. I can't stand frosting so a very rich ganache is made by the food fairy. A day for drawing breath, maybe cutting lawns, before day 2 of the annual birthday and Father's Day feasts. Hugs for anyone needing them, @gennepher it sounds as though you may. The rest of us mushrooms need some Phyllis Nelson, ale and cake apparently - (Alexander is in a spot of bother)

Good morning everyone from a propellers in a clear blue sky morning in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of an “I can’t be bothered to cook” salad came in at a flat as a pancake 5.0 this am

Dangerous living yesterday - operation cut Mrs Miggins’ hair. In preparation last time, I carefully watched a video tutorial - several times - number one rule - teeny tiny bits at a time - you can’t put it back - NSS. This time, with flair and bit more pizzazz - “been anywhere nice?” - “got your holidays planned?” This is going to be an issue when hairdressers eventually open - the schpiel will need a bit of ammending.

Granddaughter number 4 is into teething and not at all happy about the whole deal. Lots of questioning on this poor design. Still, I envy anyone who can grab either foot and stick it in her mouth. Ambipedal or what. Change her name to Bobby Charlton.

It wasn’t of course the model that I used - I have a fancy electric one, I just remembered these from the 70’s. Earlier than that, my grandfather had something that looked like sheep sheers where the handles were squeezed together to the sound of a child squealing.

MrSlim has been investigating travel possibilities. It's probably doable. If am allowed to travel/if I want to go. Currently stomach tied in knots at idea.
Exciting activities planned for today:
Window and oven cleaning. (Even that most detested of tasks, oven cleaning, is preferable to trying to decide, will need loud musuc to drown out all the "what ifs" ) Wash sheets, change bed. Little bit of gardening. If I am going to leave here might need to get most of the vegetable plants currently in pots into garden. Hope they survive. Sooner the better, really, but not much space to plant more available. Another dilemma.

I used that to cut my young son's hair. He refused point blank to go to a barbershop. He would hang on to the doorframe and scream...
He has never been to a barber in his life. As an adult he now shaves his head smooth. Less problems he says...
Once when he was 8 years old, he found them and attempted to cut his own hair...oh boy...

I am a stroppy cantankerous old git too @alf_Josiah I have argued with Welsh police on more occasions that I care to admit (and I didn't do anything wrong then).

I was just waiting for the 5 mile distance to be extended, but Friday dashed that hopes. There isn't much in the short distance I can drive in Wales, but the same 5 mile distance into England brings a whole wealth of stuff I can do that is within my walking capabilities. So I wasn't in a good place yesterday.

So you see, I also need to to hop over the border (only a few minutes away from me) into England to go to my usual accessible places. Apparently you might be able to cross the border in 3 weeks...just might be able to...but I might even be dead from natural causes in 3 weeks...let alone from the dreaded Covid-19....

Been a busy day doing outside jobs after the garden felt the force of the weeks storms. So today's painting is two sketch book watercolour studies for my next series of paintings. I'm missing the sea, usually this far into the year we have spent at least two weeks by the sea so beach scenes next. Two A5 size watercolour sketches about 30 minute in total and it was warm enough to sit in the garden to do them.
