What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all. No numbers today but an interesting take on why some folk can guzzle all the carbs they like and others of us struggle with barely any. The culprit may be the CLTCL1 gene - or not - according to this https://www.theguardian.com/science...on-could-protect-against-diabetes-study-finds Doesn't help lower fbs or anything immediately useful but I like the idea that my genes have not mutated. Have a great day.

@Bubbsie good luck with the meds review. I think there is huge merit on both sides to see your OWN doctor to discuss issues. Shame your good one is leaving.
It is PM..I .rarely went to the doctors during the last 10 years in London... after we moved here he's the only one I've seen since I've been registered with them...now it will be pot luck I'm afraid.

Very interesting article. Wouldn't it be great if - in the future - people could be checked for this when they were young and advised to lay off the carbs if they don't have this mutated gene.

I even have a letter to say I was having the laser iridotomy procedure, and some more info on this, but it is at home, because I wasn’t expecting to prove to a diabetic retinopathy photographer what I’d actually had that is not normal. The whole thing and the way that guy treated me was like I was some stupid old biddy who shouldn’t be let out of the house.

I was upset yesterday, I found it confusing, but I wasn’t confused.

I didn’t sleep properly last night, but my head has come up with several options, and one includes writing. So thank you for saying that.

I have a Cochlear appointment at the hospital tomorrow (completely different hospital to the eye one). I have a lot to deal with that tomorrow and to sort out. But I will mention it to them etc.

Thank you

Good luck for today.
I hope it goes well for you.

Of course! I will send some ideas as soon as I can.

I have a mouse who is nesting in the kitchen and caused havoc and mess, so Popeye and I are a bit busy today...

I can completely understand those comments gennepher...if I have an issue now I always put it in writing that way we can all be clear about who said what to whom...it is so important our records are accurate (for us & them)...good idea to prioritise the cochlear appointment...then just a few lines clarifying exactly what treatment you have had on your eyes...how dare those that are charged with our health care be so dismissive/condescending to any of their patients...outrageous.

Good morning my fbg this morning was err you know I can't remember oh yes just checked meter it was 4.6.
Four days on and my arm is still "bleeding" and very sore a bit fed up with it to be honest.

what at rude man.... poor you... how crazy it seems....how can you be of such different opinions of what has been going on...

6.6 hmmm not even very hard work for many hours in the gym gives me space for the sinful homemade ice cream; I did, in fact, burn 2400 calories yesterday at the gym... .... that´s life for a type 2 diabetic... only fasting and low carb is the way to go

What the man said was certainly very rude, @gennepher, but now I'm just reading @Freema 's post and it got me thinking, I wonder if the man met your eyes when you and he first met, before he took the photos? Maybe there is something about his vision that causes him to prefer looking down rather than up at people? Maybe some other condition?

I'm not excusing his rudeness at all -- his words and his manner sound very patronizing. I hate it when I get that sort of patronizing treatment from people.

6.5 Tuesday morning and there are some lovely clouds outside my window. The rain that last week was forecast for this coming Thursday is now forecast for tomorrow. I will be fine with it if it arrives today, although hopefully not 'til I have gotten home from lunch. A friend has invited me to lunch and I am really looking forward to it! She is a cat person. She lives with one cat and helps feed a colony of ferals. ^. .^
