You are right - it is an awful condition. It is such a shame that your sister in law didn't seek help earlier. Did she have neuropathy prior to the charcot foot diagnosis? My sister in law in Germany has Charcot foot even though she doesn’t have diabetes. She is something of a head in the sand person so did nothing until the condition of her feet was horrendous. She had the first foot operated on last year, and they ‘tidied’ up the other foot so that it would be ok for the time when it came to walk with crutches. It took quite some time and about 3 intermediate mini ops to get the foot to heal. She had about 6 months in a wheelchair then crutches. She’s trying to postpone (for ever?) the op on the second foot. I was told there are apparently only 3 Charcot foot specialists/surgeons in Germany: in Munich and Hamburg that I know of, not sure about the other one.
This is definitely an awful condition. My feet are partly numb underneath- we have a foot massager that I use regularly in a desperate attempt to improve the circulation in my feet.
Hey dont forget it was at a fashion show that Kate caught William’s attention, King of Queens indeed, hope GD catches a prince. Good news about Mrs T after recent issues.Good morning folks, 6.3 on the dice, night out at GD's end of year fashion show where the students show off there clothing designs, there's some weird and wacky minds at work out there people. There was a section called "King of Queens", I had to avert my gaze. Celebratory Chinese meal afterwards as the wife was told she got the her old job back, no starting date but they said it would be quick, well chuffed.
Well done on bringing your numbers down.Fbg 9.1
It is going down each day.
If it gets to 8 something tomorrow then I will ease off one of the metformin and see if the downward trend still continues. I will still take the rest of the diabetic meds.
And I will continue to eat more or less as I am now.
I am only taking the fbg reading each day at the moment. So I am thinking tonight I should take a 6pm reading because that will be 3 hours after my last meal.
That is my thinking this morning...
>^..^<
@Shas3 my sympathies for your work related stress. I barely slept my last 2 years at work I was very stressed and just couldn’t switch off. 6.3 is a marked improvement on yesterday so that’s a good start.
.
Apparently it’s a good idea to make sure you’ve washed your hands before testing. Any residue on your hands can affect the reading.
Morning All. I’m with
@DJC3 I know artichokes are good for you but does anyone actually like them?
Meatless protein plus fiber.
Well done on bringing your numbers down.
It is entirely up to you of course to make your own choices but I was wondering why you wish to stop the metformin when still in the 8s. Assuming you can tolerate it and do not suffer from side effects it is a safe mild drug that acts differently from other diabetes drugs in that it does not raise insulin but lower insulin resistance as well as limiting glucose dumps from the liver.
Assuming your target glucose levels are lower than 8 would you not be better off to carry on taking the metformin until you reach these levels and then reduce the dosage and see if you can maintain them?
I apologise in advance if you consider my comment is out of line.
Best regards
Pavlos
My goodness 2 at once! It’s the same as people who haven’t had a baby saying how great it would be to have twins! Twice the joy maybe but also twice the work and stress, I’m very impressed.
He’s getting pretty good at the toilet training, as you said, it’s easier because the weather has been nice the last few days here. It’d be different in the pouring rain walking round the garden for 20 mins waiting for a ‘performance’
At the moment I am gasping for air as I type - how can such an evil smell emanate from such a small body?
Probably the Thunder Cats.I agree. Never did quite understand where that idea came from.
