What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I once tried Balut - never again and just the smell of andouillette sausages is a real put off. I detest those lukewarm tomato halves on so called “Full English” breakfasts and instant koffy - yuk! I like salted fish but not sure about tackling Surströmming. They say that grown up food has a hint of decay, a faint whiff of death but then again, who exactly are “they”? Kale - just stop it. Bottom line though - depends how hungry you really are.

Who would of thought that a cat could so easily get into the manufacture of garden implements. We have three juvenile sparrows bouncing about in the front garden, sometimes sitting in a row on the window ledge, peering in. Beautiful colours from your bathroom plants in this piece.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those of confused gender.
Bloods yesterday were 5.3 and today 6.5.
Yesterday I had to take my motorcycle for a service and a bit of additional work, to make the motorcycle a little more controllable for me. I had to go to a suburb of Farnborough called North Camp, using the sat nav I only got slightly misplaced twice, technology and me are not good friends. Attached hopefully is a picture of a motorcycle that would be the demise of me, me’s and myself. It is far to heavy for me, but a work of art.
Today is a different day and a different set of challenges, plinky plonky lesson, being taken shopping and hopefully being banished to the in store koffy shop, no woody working, shame.
Anyway I digress, stay safe, stay cool and remember art is subjective so I hope you like the art form of the large motorcycle.

Ooh! A Victory - all shiny and very expensive, especially if it gets stuck up a narrow lane that comes to a dead end and then falls over. Hope your bike is now well under your control.

Good morning everyone from a bit of a dull start here in the dark and dangerous north. I recently did a series of mountains that live in The Falkland Islands and have had requests for others so I will be investigating that over the next couple of days - sigh! I can get decent A3 prints done so I haven’t charged, just P&P and a donation to my chosen charity. Packing - it has to be done, but not yet, not until Friday - we don’t leave until Saturday for goodness sake. Mind you, Mrs Miggins is all ready to go with the looks of what is sitting on a bed, upstairs. I expect that there will be exchanges of items several times before satisfaction is achieved. You can only get two small suitcases in the back of a Smart car so this will be fun. I keep reminding her that there is a washing machine at my parents house so panic ye not.
Art bit - a quick sketch that may or may not develop, not sure. I hope that everyone appreciates the wonder of waking up and being able to enjoy the day. I am already enjoying koffy.

Yes, I would also try anything once - except slippery slimy stuff.

A productive day yesterday we have started the process for our houseguests to move to independent living, arranged free school meals for the little girl, got the enrolment forms for her to move from kindergarten to primary school, and heard of a possibility of work for the mother. All in all a good days work. Such a shame that all these things were delayed by weeks because our interpreter had covid and then the children got chicken pox.
Official administration is still difficult for both of us, although our French is improving with more social interactions with French people. I found it amusing that our friend (interpreter) was also correcting the administrators English.
Our temporary houseguest and cat are now safely in UK and reunited with family there. I am a little jealous of their accommodation, it's in Cornwall, with sea views and a private beach. I do wonder though how the new cat will fit in with the animals already there, two dogs and four cats, once tbey are released from quarantine.
MrSlim is so bored and frustrated that he started to cut the grass yesterday. After 30 mins I told him to stop. Since he is still unable to sit, (unless his feet are up) stand or walk without pain. He is healing, but it's such a slow process and of course he didnt tell me how bad it was at first, so home treatment was delayed by two days and then he refused to see the doctor...
With the excessive heat my mangetout are giving up already and they have only just started cropping.

You are doing brilliantly @SlimLizzy with all this stuff, especially as French is not your first language, especially for all things official.

Hugs for Mr Slim.
You both need to take care of yourselves.

Love the art bit @dunelm
A tranquil scene...

Good luck with those suitcases...

Some serious polishing on there @alf_Josiah

Thanks for the compliments @dunelm
Midnight is quite adaptable...

A win for the help given to those needing it.

But massive hugs to Mr Slim.

Typical bloke. Tough stoic, must have hurt to admit how bad it was, sure he didn't want to place that burden on you

Patients do not make the most patient patients .

Slow & steady ..gives the best recovery overall I've been told

Good advice, but like Mr Slim, hard to accept

Take care
It's always a team effort
Strengths can come from weaknesses

Kind regards

Good to hear from you - sorry if I've missed your posts. Progress on the houseguests sounds good but sorry to read that Mr Slim is having problems. Take care of yourself.

Morning

A new low of 7.0...it rhymes

Therapy day..bracing now

On a feel good note.

Took a rare trip alone to stores yesterday
Lauren flapping about nothing to wear : despite a house full of clothes .(Barbados Thursday, friend in travel business taking her as a plus 1 on a job gig ..nice )

Anyway in store queuing to pay
Get called forward to disabled line
Ok not that impressed but I have to be realistic and it was a nice gesture

Felt a little warm someone cared.

Wanted to pass it forward

Almost as a sign...(thank you God, for testing me .)

On way out, elderly lady clearly struggling, barely moving past store exit with her bag.
Offered to carry it, I was more able then her, even in my state.

Walking so slowly took ages ( hip issues she said)

Asked how far she lived, and how she was possibly getting home.

A few blocks and a taxi....mmh

A one way single lane street the entire length of our local high street

And traffic in an horrendous state cos of train strikes....lady wasn't aware

No way I could leave her, one taxi did stop ..but so far down the road, by the time I got there to explain, traffic jammed up solid and much tooting & waving of fist's .

Agreed it wasn't practical to wait there so long.. and he'd be ages getting back around .so he left.

Sat with lady, called an Uber & paid her trip
Waited as close to roadway as she could bear.

Uber arrives, causes jam, but it is what it is, lady very infirm, but we finally get her into cab and sent home.

Normal trip £6...add in surge and it's £17.

Money well spent
Why she hasn't got carers I don't know
Told me she lost her daughter aged 40..no one to help her

Did helping feel good .. You bet.

And for a moment my anger & self pity left
me....always someone worse off JJ..Always

Lesson learned, very humbled
Got home happy but so exhausted after all the efforts.

Happy Wednesday all
Hope it's long & glorious

A very good day @jjraak
She will remember that...

Wonderful act of kindness yesterday. I hope the therapy goes well.

You are so kind @jjraak

Great stuff and at last some forward movement with house guests. When I worked in East Africa, we used to build up little mounds round the base of plants and fill them full of water twice a day.
