What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I cannot clean a car anymore. It exhausts me even if I do it tiny section by tiny section, so, I have no idea how you managed that @lindisfel

Car wash next time, or pay a lad from the village to do it. 35 years ago, I used to pay an 11year old scally from over the road to do it for me. He said he would do it for £1. He couldn't read or write, but took pride in that job. I am thinking it would be slightly more than a £1 now though...

Images are or were one of the biggest worries about viruses, as I recall....mmmhh

Had similar issues when I was involved in making documents up for work projects, but I hadn't considered back then using screenshots instead.

It's what I do now to get some pics into a size/format that I like and/or the forum requires.

Bravo @Krystyna23040 for the fix, smashed it.

Silver surfers, is there anything we can't do, if we really try .

A little sharing..

As many might remember I use the Ebike to get to work most days, as it also fits into part of my rehab journey.

So it's a very pleasant commute now summers arrived.

Coming home is the best part, a more relaxed journey along the river front, very good for the soul.

Anyway, the other evening I heard some lovely music before coming across an al fresco dance class (?)

So I stopped & took a video.
(I rarely upload to YouTube or anywhere, so can't link it here.)

But here's a pic to convey the event...jolly nice vibe with everyone involved or just passing, enjoying the moment.

Just thought I'd share.

Curious if anyone else feels similar ?

Always felt the phrase "Music calms the savage beast" more suited to movies.

However since my accident I've struggled keeping a lid on certain anxieties.

But I found music to be extremely useful to me, in managing such moments.

And with the uncertainty of how I/we'd cope post accident on our first holiday in 3 years,
I took the precaution of making a 'calming' play list with us.

An eclectic mix, but it worked beautifully.
(King of the road, 16 tons..really JJ.. )

A snippet of this one kept popping up on silly shorts on my YouTube feed , it somehow hooked me & once I heard the full song it became my Go-To for calmer moments .

Anyone else finding music as useful in such situations..?

You know the doctors ordered "take it easy" right ?....but I understand how frustrating it is.

However, the HA was a major event, not to be taken lightly, much as you'd wish to get back to normal asap.

And while washing the car sounds so simple.. it's a complex range of movements, akin to a sparring session in sapping your energy, Derek.

I think you know in your heart, it's "be grateful for what you can do."

That your still here to look after your lovely lady.

Steady as she goes, is the captain's orders.

We're an ocean going liner that's been holed, but not sunk.

It needs plenty of calmer seas test runs to make sure the repairs hold, before setting off on longer voyages where goodness knows what weather we'll face,
So it's not a place to be unsure if we're seaworthy again.

Time & patience.
Always in shorter supply then we like, but it is the best & quickest way to get where we want to be ...so I keep telling myself.

And I have no doubt you'll get there, Derek.
 
Thank you @gennepher. A brilliant suggestion that will completely solve the problem. I had no idea that things were embedded in the photos. A bit scary actually.
 
Floor cleaning day today. So I'm trying to get everything organised in time for my cleaner coming but am taking a short break right now to give my legs a rest.

BG at 2.30 am was 8.9. Rising, of course. 12.5 at the moment so I shall have to see if it holds at that for now or if it carries on up, in which case I should eat soon.

I thought it was going to be overcast today but the sun is out despite quite a few clouds for it to hide behind. Warm, but not hot at the moment. Right now a 2-thin-layer day.

Worrying news about the "tourists" in a lost submersible over the Titanic site. Can't imagine the horror of being trapped in a tiny vessel with no way of escape. But then, I can't imagine putting myself in that situation either. I don't have that kind of courage.

Creative is a kaleidoscope. A better one of buttercups today.

It is raining outside.

I just had a nap, and it was a dystopian nightmare.
Suddenly this directive was announced, and a team of 'Guardians' arrived to implement it. I was in a hospital foyer, and walked straight out into the arms of an armed 'Guardian'. There were huge metal basket type things where you could volunteer to put your stuff in. I refused, and so I was searched, my bag taken off me, I said I needed stuff from it. And so I was taken to a porta-cabin where I was further interrogated, then allowed to leave with just the clothes on my back. It was the same for everyone. If they had a suitcase/luggage/shopping etc, everything was taken off you...
And no, I haven't read nor watched anything horror like. It was so real, I thought it was actually happening, and not a dream...

Interesting isn’t it, how music affects mood. In amongst all The Rolling Stones and heavy metal on my biking playlist is all of Mozart’s piano sonatas played by Alfred Brendel on a forte piano. Marvelous for when you just want to sit back and enjoy the views instead of where that next corner is.

Good morning everyone from what looks likely to be a drenched her in the dark and dangerous north. Just taken delivery of a large bag of sand. Mrs Miggins has taken up landscaping and in true Gertrude Jekyll is cleaning, flattening and laying a long border. My task today is to complete a survey by ticking little boxes on the subject of improving local streets, roads, busses and cycling. I have to move quickly as the thing needs to be back at Ipsos by 10th July. Don’t you just love it when your council spend your money so wisely. Art bit, another bit of ruination. Have as marvelous a day as you can. My koffy was consumed ages ago.

Problems at the moment getting responses from our GP practice. 2 weeks ago I asked to speak to a nurse about what is happening to my legs (serious swelling and pain because I am unable to use the stockings fitted by the nurse). I was told that the nurse would call me back. She didn't. Eventually, days later, I called again and asked why and was told that I hadn't turned up for the appointment I had been given. Easily explained - I wasn't told about the appointment. Get them to call again? Better to talk to a doctor. OK. Didn't have too long to wait for the GP to call (another new one I'd never heard of). He decided that I should see the nurse. Said he would tell the nurse to call me. Still waiting. I would call again and try to find out what is happening but we are waiting for a GP to phone Neil.

Neil uses a very specific Codeine/paracetamol product to control his Crohn's. There is only one make that will do the job - it has a specific set of ingredients which others don't have. He has been buying it for years because it was removed from the allowable products on the prescription list and replaced by a generic version, which he can't use. Suddenly all the pharmacies here are refusing to sell it to him, or anyone who has bought it previously. Alistair has been refused it because he is on tablets for high blood pressure and the pharmacists are concerned about the amount of salt in it, even though none of us has ever been told to reduce salt due to taking BP tablets.

He was told to ask the GP for a private prescription for the tablets, upon which, he could buy them. He asked the GP, who agreed but never sent the prescription. He asked again and was told that the GP was "looking into it" and would contact him. He didn't. He asked again last week and was told that the GP would get in touch. Still waiting. And he has run out of the tablets now.

Don't understand what their problem is. Communication is obviously part of it, but maybe it's because they don't actually know how to go about it. A year or so ago, DIL had a similar problem with medications - the generic version (the same thing that Neil has a problem with) contained an allergen which caused her to go into anaphylactic shock. After a bit of humming and hawing, the prescription was allowed to be changed to the commercial version, which doesn't have the same bulking agents or packaging. They could do it then, but, it seems, not now.

Oh dear, this modern world - so full of potential but people don't seem to be able to cope with it.
