The Government would 'male chicken' it up today.'63 I lived in Kent.
The snow went right up the fronts of the houses.
Couldn't get out.
The army, Royal Engineers I think, dug us all out and made the roads passable.
It was a good job that army camp was based at the bottom of our road.
They were very useful!!!
As a child I knew the army would always save us...
That heated cat outfits sounds just the ticket. Thanks for the extra cat sketch.Fbg 6.5
Freezing here.
Got my black velvety fur fabric onesie on (that's my tummy at bottom of photo!), and a black real fur cat on me (he is on the left of photo). So big cat and not so little cat...
Creative is me getting out all my black pens again, and trying to see if they still work. Using a sketch pad of cartridge paper.
Got myself a heated jacket and a spare battery pack, so I can be warm all day. It heats back, front, shoulders and neck. Two battery packs last ALL day. It was one of the cheapest ones on Amazon, poor reviews, reviewers said it didn't work, there were no instructions (as is wont from China). Just use your brains you reviewing people, just double or triple press and short and long press the buttons etc to get to all the settings. It is quite clever. I am pleased with it.

Mrs Miggins was involved in the foot and mouth campaign. Coordinating vehicle movement in Northumbria. She said it was one of the saddest times for her.The Government would 'male chicken' it up today.
They would probably ship the snow off the land and fill the streets with it.
It was the Army that stopped the foot and mouth and the campaign was run by a guy who had the ability to stop it without allowing grafters to take over.

With ice on the windows - inside!Today day has been continuous blue skies and cold sunshine with the moon showing early in the eastern sky. It will be a cold night in northern Cumbria, people who can't afford to heat their homes, will find it hard particularly if their cold or ill.
The winters were colder when I was young. The freeze up in 1962/63 winter was extremely brutal and started when we had lived in a caravan from the previous March when we got married.
It was old caravan, on a site, which Marjorie and I renovated....we were poor but happy. At the start of winter I joined the Beeb and moved to the south midlands and sold the caravan whose outside toilet froze up by December 62. So they must have been frozen for three months into March 63.
We just had £50 at the start of our long journey the previous March.

Yes it was just one open fire in most homes. The rest of one's house was freezing cold.
The snow was deep in Kent that year. We didn't need to be dug out, but the army barracks was just half a mile away, so we were in a good position had we needed help. That winter, we went on a trip with colleagues of Dad's on a coach trip to London to see the Black and White Minstrels. The snow was piled up high on both sides of the road where it had been bull-dozed aside - probably about 12 to 15 feet high walls. All we could see was the icy road and ice walls. That was the day I discovered I had an inflamed appendix. Didn't really enjoy the outing as much as I should have.'63 I lived in Kent.

Great artwork. It always amazes me how a few random lines can turn, under your skilled hand, into a wonderful image.Good morning everyone on a cool Caribbean start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.6 this am. I stayed in the 4 zone for two years during the pandemic but 5’s are where the joy lies for me. 6 is probably OK for me also - just kicking the HbA1c can down the alley with the enthusiasm of a member of the Jamaican bobsleigh team. Just dug out my copy of The Enchiridion by Epictetus to remind me not to get involved in crown nonsense and the babblings of the press. The book was not written by Epictetus but by one of his students. You can download ye olde English copy written in 1701 and made available through Google books if it tickles your fancy, where ‘s’ is written as ‘f’ and thorns are still dead popular. Art bit, just a splash of colour. Cough, cough, splutter, splutter - I am not in charge of my body - just my thoughts. Anyhow - or is it anyhoo! Hope your Saturday gives you a warm glow in this chilly willy weather - the manuka honey is even more solid than it usually is - Mrs Miggins will be désolé. I really ought to have some more koffy.
