What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

After some discussion with MrSlim about his work schedule, prompted by a throwaway comment of his re painting the front door "now the stonework is clean, need to paint the front door."
We have had two French artisans cleaning the stonework and repairing the fascias on the dormer windows. ( €€€€) Agreed, the scruffy front door is not in keeping with the rest and the shutters also need painting, but neither of those will make the house more comfortable.
The back hall floor is distinctly dodgy and was his next big project, after ripping out the toilet and washbasin, and installing new, plus a shower.
However he had yielded all his plans to my argument that without a working kitchen it's not a house, or a home. It's just a building where we are camping.
He agreed to start work on the kitchen instead of the other jobs. So today we worked on tbe floor. Scraping off self leveling compound and the walls, removing wallpaper. The wallpaper is very thick vinyl and difficult to remove. Even with a steam stripper. ( wonder if that will be starred out?)
Tomorrow the Helpful Handyman will be here. Mr Slim is probably going to suggest he washes and then paints the kitchen ceiling, while MrSlim installs the lights. Progress at last.

I see the first ghost in Ghostbusters one.

Busy week in the Lamont household with plenty of medical and visitors, and of course #7 birthday.

Main mental health specialist team are trying to work miracles with Mrs L, but the painkillers and everything else is the underlying cause. A viscous cycle with one leading the other.
One comment from one of the specialist.......Who in their right mind would prescribe such high doses, for so long?
More adjustments to her other meds.
Both last week's test, either negative or normal.
Her diabetes is in good order.
Her life signs are in normal, by that I mean, BP, heart, pulse, etc.
And when I think about it, other than her spine crumbling and the sciatica nerve. With her mental health.
Mrs L has very good health for someone on all those tablets, smoking etc.
Which you have to laugh at.
Or am I going into Looney toons land?
Perhaps it is catching.
La, la, la, is de, la!

However, I did receive a couple of phone calls from the doctors and the social services about me and my health.
And I did receive a compliment from the mental health specialist about my fitness.
As if to say, that at my age, I should be in my button up cardigan, old man slippers, and next in line for the walking stick and my kids and grandkids visiting me in a care home.
The cheek!

Anywho, my BG levels are still in mid sevens, and I'm trying, but as usual it takes time and my mental tirednss, is a bit bothersome, and a return to counselling has been suggested. I'm still thinking about it.
Got out this afternoon for a bit of retail therapy with my DiL and #8. It does seem odd to me that I enjoy going to the big shop we did, and not having the anxiety I had going to that huge supermarket in town, where I had my worst panic attacks during covid.
Bought some stuff for garden. And spent a good hour pottering about in the garden, it must be my age........!
Going for some summer plants tomorrow for the gaps left from the thousands (it seems like) of bluebells now gone.
Some non indicators idiot tried to run me over at the weekend, abuse at him was loud and clear.
Double dumb **** on you!

I just wonder if Trump has thought that the best way to totally screw the whole world economy is to have no tariffs whatsoever? Please don't tell him!
Just wondering if there is any common sense any more?
Or would we all be better off, having Alzheimer's?

Must be old age, found myself caring less about the state of humanity.

Good morning everyone on a pleasant start to the day despite the continuing Oops messages.
5.7 this a.m.
Use by dates? Just where is the sweet spot between what’s on the package and oh dear, tummy trouble? I invariably stick with sniff and lick sort of decisions and always just crape away bits of mold on cheese. But! Yesterday I found that a use by date stamped some time during the repeal of the corn laws and now is well over that sweet spot. Mind you it could just be the next big weight loss hack on Tick Toc.
Car still in garage awaiting a replacement part - just one of those dust gaiters on front suspension - they only had one in stock - which to me is akin to only having one glove available or a single sock.
Art bit - ink and watercolour. (The word has the letter U in it oh silly productive toxt)
Hope your day includes some peace - as Marcus Aurelius keeps reminding me, “get active in your own rescue—if you care for yourself at all—and do it while you can.” Best start with some koffy then.

Creative is a photo of some of the roses that totally surround the bungalow....I am floating on heavenly scent...

Loads of bumble bees... there is a plant called Mallow which has just started coming out, outside my open window, and the bees completely cover it. The bees come in to say hi and then they fly out again.

In the meantime, the courtship between the female cellar spider and the male cellar spider is absolutely fascinating... I can be watching them for half an hour each time I go in the bathroom... they get closer and closer bit by bit, and then the male cellar spider makes the first move. He reaches out towards the female spider. The female spider initially recoils. Then He reaches out again, and She reaches out...and He strokes her longest extended leg, so tenderly. And she gives a very short abrupt leg stroke to hem... and so this goes on. They got so close the first time I saw it happen, that my mind said she's going to eat him... and so I left the bathroom. But surprise surprise when I returned, they were both still there...now I don't think she is going to eat him, I can watch for half an hour at a time!!!! It is actually beautiful to watch them.

Don't ask me for the individual names of their body parts or the proper names for their legs, I'd probably get in a tongue twister with that...

I did consider photographing them, but I thought you might like my roses better.... they are so skinny and delicate that they are just about impossible photograph with my phone but I am still trying...

Hot and still and muggy here. It was raining earlier....

Probably best not to share the photos of that as spider porn is a very niche sub-genre of the Dark Manosphere. @dunelm thank you for sharing the splendid trees. @Lamont D good to update us, interesting comment from the specialist on Mrs L's meds. Y'all enjoy Thursday, it is v v cold here.

BG levels a bit of a concern, but still high 7s.
It's been raining heavy for most of the day and cool.
No chance to get the summer plants.
