What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning All. 6.0 simply because after supper I broke into my HC Gianduja pralines meant for Christmas. Couldnt stop at 1; had 3. Well I cant eat all 12 at once!
I think I got off light. Had a very frustrating day with new tumble drier not working and loads of Christmas bedding to deal with. Mr PM sorted it out last night. That paled into insignificance when I heard a stalwart in our village, and a thoroughly lovely lady, has eye cancer. Note to self: minor frustrations are nothing.

I hadn't thought it could be that good.

The file size has been reduced from 13Mb to less than one Mb so I could post it on here, so it is a vastly reduced quality.

I've only seen it on my little phone screen. I'll check it out later on a larger screen and think about it.

6.1 this morning, had steak and spinach last night but I did indulge in some thick cream and raspberries. I have an unexpected 'day off' today, maybe I'll gambol in the park and chase some squirrels
 

Hugs for everything! Chocolate induced high fbg, non functional tumble dryer, and the devastating news from that lovely lady. A chap I worked with had eye cancer, he had the eye removed and was back at work fairly quickly, first with a patch, then with a fab new glass eye. He remained remarkably cheerful and said the only problem he found was at the beginning when he tried to pour a glass of wine and missed! It took a few months for his brain to figure out distances without the data from 2 eyes. I hope the same happy outcome occurs for your friend. You’re right though, that sort of news does put our minor tribulations into perspective.
 
Your numbers look really good to me. Your body is coping amazingly well with all that is going on at the moment.

The poem is Warning by Jenny Joseph. This analysis of the poem explains much better than I could exactly why I love it and how I feel about old age.

'There is an interesting contrast presented in the text between one’s assumptions about old age and what this speaker discovers as she contemplates its realities. One might normally assume aging necessarily means the end of many of one’s pleasures. In the speaker’s world, this is not the case. In fact, her pleasures only increase when she doesn’t have to consider what others think of her. By the end of the poem she has even decided to start living this way now in order to have as many good years as possible.

The most important themes of this piece are a disregard for convention and shunning of societal rules. These changes take place as one ages and are set out by the poet in humorous fashion. They are contemplated from the present with the speaker is looking into the future.'

Numbers too high this week PM so back there on the 31st...I know already I am going to rearrange that appointment so does the clinician!...yes the fascination for the boxes is hilarious anything that is delivered gets stalked until it's empty...just got up let the kits out its full on already & I haven't even finished my coffee...breakfast for the Kits first (even before coffee) & a quick litter change...I'm exhausted they are full on like tabby whirling Dervishes ATM Charlie is dive bombing their cat tunnels

Thank you Saskia ATM they are in extreme mode up& down the curtains...poor Santa on the side table has been targeted wondering how long until they 'get' him...I am sorry to hear about how difficult the management company are...it's awful when you can't feel at peace & secure in your own home are still exploring a move?
 
Thanks for the hugs. I think she is terrified of losing her eye but if she knew that positive story it might give her hope. Not sure I should have that convo though. She has already lost her sight in the affected eye and has undegone difficult radiotherapy.
I am sorry about the egg intolerance/allergy, I know like me you found the humble omelette a safe and reliable meal.
 
Oh yes I remember up and down the curtains...when I would come back in Mowz would drop into a chair while Ginge would hold on by one paw and kind of smile at me
You have to love them.

Yes we managed to do the gig, at Sunny Croft a National Trust house. Had to dress Victorian and sang Carols in 4 part harmony or played Recorders for 10 minutes every 30 mins, most enjoyable and lots of visitors considering it was a Monday, so probably helped fbg although hospital visit to see MIL afterwards was not so enjoyable but that's life.
 
Morning...woke at 5am a quick pit stop & back to bed thought I'd never nod off but not up (again) until just after 8am...its full on here despite having all the cat toys they could want the cushions are being targeted...Santa has come in for some flak but was saved again...I have blocked the teeny tiny hole by the tumble dryer so they cannot get under the kitchen cupboards...now I might be able to make a second badly needed coffee...tired could have been making 4 dozen mince tarts for my visit to the office in London tomorrow (last night)...just one cake to make a flourless triple dark chocolate one for Henry who's father is a coeliac wow this Christmas lark is exhausting...haven't tested so far been busy with the kits...and I did sample a couple of mince tarts just to ensure there were no soggy bottoms!
 
Almost forgot fbs - 5.6 this morning. Taking our 13yr Archie to the vet. He had a 'wash and brush up ' yesterday and groomer flagged up that one of his pads was swollen and red. He is walking ok and not licking it but it will be good to catch it before it causes him problems.

Eye clinic tonight for eye injection. When the scans were done in the summer the doctor diagnosed that the macular oedema was in both eyes and both would need to be injected. But when it came to it the decision was made only to inject one eye because of the expense of the injections (£600 each) and they said that the 2nd eye wasn't quite bad enough to inject.

This has been really worrying me over the last few months - so I am really pleased that the eye now meets the criteria for an injection. Strangely - instead of worrying about the injection as I normally do - I feel elated. The sight in the eye will be saved.

The last time that eye was injected was 2015 - so hopefully once the 3 monthly injections have been done there will be another 5 year gap.

Good morning everyone from another sensational day in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of silent nights and frosty the snowman slid over like Who’s on first with a 4.7 this am

Going over to the the Don War Memorial Bar and Veterans Hub today for a catch up with other, similar, folk for scintillating chats about black dog, PTSD and phantom limb scratching. Oh! And of course for a whip round to keep the place going.

The old Pacer cattle trucks on the Darlington Stockton were eventually changed on Sunday for shiny newly refurbished Class 158’s - I know all the jargon but am clueless about what the number 158 means - probably that they have seats but no third class like the old Pacer cattle trucks had. I will find out when I get on one today.

I think that your body has got it's.........into gear.

Perhaps I must start to get my..........into gear and get ready for the vet visit. Am still relaxing with a coffee as it was too wet for doggie walk this morning.
