Can you not access your results online where do you live? At least then you can get more info without asking the GP. Always feels like I am wasting "their" time when I have questions regarding my own health. Even to the point of a "huff" to which I raised my eyebrows and myself tutted, literally!Good morning all, this morning another FBG of 5.4, which is fine for me and I’m not complaining
The Thai massage for my achy back muscles did wonders, and I was zenned out for the rest of the day.
The session with the GP was less satisfying, the recent HbA1c was 41, which he said was into non-diabetic levels but obviously on medication. He said the Feb test was 45, but I don’t think that can be right because that is below the diagnostic trigger of 48 or 6.5% and the nurse told me it was borderline & only just on 48. Either way, its only come down marginally over the six months. He said the cholesterol levels were ‘perfect’ but didn’t give me any figures. The trouble is in 10 mins there is a limit to what I can ask.
What is it with these doctors and not giving the patient the precise information about their condition? Are they worried we’ll look it up and question them? I cannot access the numbers because here we don’t have automatic access to the records and I would need to do a specific subject access request for the data. And in other respects the medical practice is a good one, in my experience.
I guess I’m just disappointed it wasn’t lower, although the morning FBG are consistent with that kind of A1c.

I am not sure as I have never been on meds but I don't think meds like metformin really make a big difference. Some of the others like the "gliptins" might. With regard to seeing blood results, my surgery does not buy into online results either but after I insisted they now print a copy out for me. Receptionists were a pain initially but we are entitled to a copy of the results and once I let them know that I knew that, they finally, grudgingly, printed a copy for me. I did say that I would be prepared to pay for a subject access request if needs be. It was a bit of an unusual request for them, I think, as patients do not normally ask for results and I actually think they thought I was wasting their time as I wouldn't understand them however that was not the case subsequently, as my lovely GP sat with me one day and went through each of the results step by step explaining everything.Good morning all, this morning another FBG of 5.4, which is fine for me and I’m not complaining
