What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

@Penquin47210 Enjoy the cuddles
@Peanut234 hope you're feeling better
@MissMuffett and @RosemaryJackson warm gentle hugs
@aylalake hope the drs gave you what you needs, be careful on the slippiness
Survived the little trip away, drank copious amounts of low alcohol fizzy wine, only succumbed to one pita bread. 6.7 this morning, not unhappy with that. Now home safe and snug after a -4 and foggy drive .. Back to LC and jolly old water. Hope you all had a safe Saturday.

Hello @Welshman1952 and welcome back to this FBG thread. We're pleased you could join us once again.

Exercise is good for the body, as you know. That said, by far the most important factors are the foods and drinks you swallow in the 12 hours before you test your FBG first thing in the morning.

You've improved your HbA1c and FBG results in the past and you can do it again once you get back into the swing of a LCHF lifestyle.

Morning all! I am NEVER awake this early but I am glad I am because ….

6.5 !!!

The only thing I did differently was to have a few mouthfuls of kefir a few minutes before bed.

@callyandy yay! Fingers crossed for tomorrow’s reading.
@LivingLightly do your numbers EVER change? My goal is to log readings like yours every single day.
@RoughcutAU I find that too, if I have a lie-in or try to go back to sleep.

Morning all. 4.8 here and above freezing, a balmy 3C rising to 5 - double figures by mid week. Hugs for those in frost or snow. @DEBBIESCOTT useful heads up there, thanks. Believer or not have a wonderful carb dodgers Advent Sunday. He's too young for a calendar PenguinNan

Morning All. Thank you everyone for your good wishes on becoming a PenguinNan. We feel so blessed. Today 7.3 on the scale. Need to think up some strategies. @Welshman1952 welcome and I wonder if you make a pact with your GP to leave off the meds for a few months and give you a chance to improve your numbers. Kind of throwing down the gauntlet might be just the answer. Never easy with Christmas looming but pick your fights. For one day I will have one roastie, stuffing, gravy but will forego the sweet stuff and if you can’t maybe a small ramekin of Christmas pud! Good luck.

Morning all. And what a morning! We have half and inch of snow and the sky looks leaden so I'm expecting more. At least my garden looks neat and tidy! Thanks @callyandy, we can all do with a warm gentle hug now and again. @PenguinMum, your news took me back to when my 3 grandchildren were babies (they are all mid twenties now) and I envy you. It's a lovely feeling. 7.6 today. Mea culpa again! Keep warm and safe folks.

I bought a large Kristmas Pud from here and the pastry for suasage rolls - need another one now. The cinnamon doughnuts are rather spiffing, I will try the mince meat traybake today.. We have a 2 year old decorating the tree today - my do that - with his big (all 4 years and about 15 kgs when wet) sister. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, thanks for the compliment @aylalake . Keeping BGs in check is a daily challenge I know, but well worth the effort and it does get easier. When diagnosed in 2003 with a finger prick reading >18mmol/l, my HbA1c result was 110 mmols/mol. Latest HbA1c in October 2023 was 35 mmols/mol.

Logging my results here, it must be said, helps to keep me incentivised. If you're in the habit of low-carbing then, barring illness or injury, your FBG levels should stabilise given time. If I can do it, I know you can too.

A very unexpected 8.9 this morning after an accidental sleep in - 2 hrs later than normal.
I'm assuming its due to the metformin kicking in. Rest of the numbers for the day are a bit down too. I was expecting it to take a week at least for them to come down.
Still in shock, so have postponed the victory dance till tomorrow
