Not sure if u will find a wilkos .LivingLightly, Thank you for reply & advice.
Don't know why?
I've found if I eat potato in very small amounts, my Blood Sugar only goes up a point or two.
(2 hours after dinner with small jacket potato and my BG is 12.1 mmol and heading in the right direction).
Pasta, bread, & pastries seem vastly different and can spike me 10- 15 points.
That small jacket spud in now resting gently in my tummy.
You're right of course about chucking the pasta from the cupboard out.
I knew it was bad, bad, BAD, VERY BAD for me, yet still ate some pasta last night and regretted it all day today.
I still need to add more menu ingredients to the kitchen to help overcome the lack of carb filled ingredients.
I love bacon and egg sandwich,
Chicken Tikka with rice and Naan bread.
Lots of pasta dishes,
Shepherd's/Cottage pie.....
Any Pastry Pie
That's not forgetting favourites like Bread and Butter Pudding etc etc.
Yup...... I'm learning that it's a real bummer, being diabetic... .....
I shan't eat anything else, and will have my last drink in around 15 minutes.
Expecting a decent level for my BG reading on waking tomorrow and I'm guessing about 7.5mmol......
We shall see.....
You've got me thinking about the birds, struggling for food & energy to help stay alive in this freezing weather.
I think a trip to Wilkos or Pet store could be on the agenda, with a view to setting up a bird feeding station.
Thanks for the thoughts.....
Ahhh yes. Permanently Closed is WilkosNot sure if u will find a wilkos .
Although I agree that foods and drinks are very important etc for me I find that poor sleep has a great impact on my FBG and exercise is just as important when it comes to my own FBG .Hello @Welshman1952 and welcome back to this FBG thread. We're pleased you could join us once again.
Exercise is good for the body, as you know. That said, by far the most important factors are the foods and drinks you swallow in the 12 hours before you test your FBG first thing in the morning.
You've improved your HbA1c and FBG results in the past and you can do it again once you get back into the swing of a LCHF lifestyle.
Thinking of booking early hba1c(if they let me!) Update - can't have test till March.Hey ho.IF you can get an appointment with a doctor bypass the DN and talk to a doctor face to face .
Hi @Peanut234 You must have needed that extra 2 hours sleep.A very unexpected 8.9 this morning after an accidental sleep in - 2 hrs later than normal.
I'm assuming its due to the metformin kicking in. Rest of the numbers for the day are a bit down too. I was expecting it to take a week at least for them to come down.
Still in shock, so have postponed the victory dance till tomorrow
OH won't have a hot water bottle so I've claimed his and started taking two to bed with me and now at 9:00 in the evening I am sitting with a hot water bottle behind me and a thick arran cardi on to keep me warm. Were not skimping on the heating either, I just can't seem to get warm - one of the down sides of low carb I suspect.6.8 this morning cannot get myself warm
That happened to me one year. I suppose a busy practice has to review some of its diabetic patients in January, but it does seem unfair on the unfortunate few whose names come out of the hat.I hope my average FBG gets through the holidays unscathed! Somehow, I've ended up with the 6 monthly review test AFTER Xmas instead of before, which is stupidity in a bucket. Note to self, try to adjust the timings so that the test falls BEFORE Xmas, and preferably in November before all the madness starts.........
