What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Not great news here. Latest reading was 10.3 so have some work to do.

I have been trying to eat low(er) carb but with Thanksgiving (US) and now Christmas it's a bad time for eating better. I have started attending a water aerobics group so hopefully that will help out (and get me in shape too)!

Merry Christmas

~Nee

Hi, love ️the thanksgiving and Christmas time and holidays but I leave the most fun part out, I eat my regular food. Oops call me whatever you want, sorry!Merry Christmas! Omar

Good Morning Everybody......
Today's BG 6.6 mmol.
Been in the 5 hive for a week and slipped back a little, but know this was because of mistakes / giving in to temptation.
I know what needs doing to re-join the hive, so expect to see me back in there before long.......
I'm pondering joining slimming World, as an added incentive to lose weight and get my diet in complete order......
This will be an after Christmas venture, as I'm sure to have the odd tasty titbit in the coming weeks, that will be completely banned by me on Dec 26th.

Good luck with whatever efforts you are making folks.......

Libre 5.8
Finger prick 5.5
Still in the hive after five (days in a row) and curiously 5 days in a row that my Libre has read slightly higher than my meter.

@Ashybang although it’s a great idea to join a slimming community be aware Slimming World may not encourage low carbing. They certainly didn’t when I was a member - in fact carbs were classed as “free” foods.

Well done you @Ashybang for achieving a FBG below 7 mmol this morning.

For dietary advice and help with the LCHF way of eating, I'd visit the Food and Nutrition neighbourhood of this forum first. There are lots of knowledgeable and experienced folk there. Unlike SW, we won't charge you!

A satisfactory FBG 5.4 this morning, down from 6.0 yesterday. My carb intake was also down, largely due to having eaten the contents of my fridge in preparation for tomorrow’s travels and there wasn’t anything other than lettuce, tomato and slices of ham. Today is a transit day in London so eating out which poses its own challenges. I love the Wagamama menu but I do have to watch whats in it. I’m putting a Libre on tonight, so no more FP’s for a while, saves my fingers and its one less thing to think about.

I shall be intrigued to know what the time zone changes does to my BG and the Dawn Phenomenon- somehow I lose Saturday entirely and arrive in NZ at an ungodly hour of the morning on Sunday. How the endo system figures that one out is anyone’s guess. First time travelling so far since Covid struck and since diagnosis, so excited and fearful at the same time. :D A proper adventure!

Been a bit busy, so forgot to post yesterday and today. House sold yesterday:happy:, managed to get back on a horse , and sorted front room for the mismass tree to go up tomorrow:happy: and more stuff up in the loft:happy:. Also cut hubby's hair:rolleyes:. None of this activity has helped get me into the five hive....:( 6.2 yesterday and 6.8 today. Not sevens tough:happy:. Hugs to all who need them.

@aylalake
@LivingLightly
Thank you so much for the heads up regarding SW, and the link for info on Diabetes UK forum
I've looked on the SW website and they do still have the free foods, which include rice, pasta, potatoes and other not so very low carb foods, each one of which would spike my BG readings into the stratosphere..........
It's ridiculous.......makes no sense...... especially as I've been referred as type 2 diabetes, with high triglycerides, cholesterol.and Cardiac issues,
I have been referred by my G.P.
I need to go on low fat diet, eating especially low saturated fats .......

I wonder if SW will create a menu of food items/meals to suit my specific requirements.....?
I have up to January 12th to decide if I want to accept a place from my referral.
I'll give it serious thought.

Happy Days.
Back on my 'A' game today, with a
BG 4.5 mmol.
I was very tempted during the night, to grab something tasty, but somehow resisted and the low reading, back in the 4's was my reward , which I'm very happy about.
I was awake for a couple of hours in the night, yet again.
It could be the medication I'm on causing me to awaken. I was dying for a 'jimmy', on waking, which is a direct common side effect of the medication........

Hope you all enjoy the results that you want today........

In the interests of my ongoing training for Christmas dinner I experimented with half a mince pie swimming in double cream. I also tried turnip chips cooked in chicken fat.
So I was expecting this morning’s results…
Libre 5.9
Finger prick 6.3. Broke my run of 5s but not by much.
