What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

A surprising 5.3 FBG this morning, despite waking up in a night sweat for no particular reason. Changing bedclothes in the middle of the night is a bit challenging at the best of times. I'm way past lady stuff, and my cold is all but over, so no idea what that was all about, its not the first time but last night was particularly bad. Onward and upward, have a good Monday all.

Only take fasting mainly because of the cost . And no re low carbs I know where I am going wrong but life is a bit of a stressed out mess at the moment and carbs are my go to .

I sympathise. I get these occasionally in the middle of the night where I’m soaked from head to toe and the bedclothes are damp! It’s not menopause and I haven’t got an infection, and I can’t guess when it’s going to happen but it’s very unpleasant

Evening @mojo37.

Comfort eating is a common response to stressful situations. Once believed to distract and divert attention from negative feelings, it's now thought that certain foods may help to regulate cortisol; the stress hormone which increases blood glucose when a person is under pressure.

Perhaps the answer is to go for a food that's predominantly protein and fat (eg. a cube of cheese and an olive, or a few almonds, whatever appeals to you), rather than reach for the carbs which are doing you no favours.
