What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

8.1 today, was with my Endocrinologist and he was not satisfied with my results, so he added another drug Pioglitazone to already maximum doses of metformim and glimipiride i was using. Will be back on Friday to check how far it is working but I still need to work on my carb

Good morning all. It turned out I have a bit of a slight cold after all -- but nothing as bad as usual. Blood sugars were 5.5 this morning.

@Diabeticliberty -- I agree with you, life is short and it is there to be enjoyed. Still you have the rare gift to make me smile when I read your posts. Thank you.

Excellent number from you and your comment makes me blush the colour of a can of chicken surprise soup. Do you know what is in chicken surprise soup?

Yeah you guessed correctly. It is tomato.

Have a wonderful day :)

Thanks all for thoughts about my lovely grandson. He looks much better today. When his parents got.to a and e last night they were in a queue of 5 children, 4 of whom had croup. Apparently it is starting early this year, and seems much more severe.
Hoping that by the time the steroids wear off later this evening he is still ok.
I dont know how all you other grandparents feel about this, but I absolutely hate loving them so much and yet feeling so very helpless when they are ill, with the added worry of fretting about thier parents!! It feels like a double hit of anxiety.
Sometimes I am so very grateful to be living in such a civilised country where little children can get such good, free at need healthcare.
Thankfully this will be the last the little one gets of this awful croup, I know exactly how you feel about our grandchildren, mine are all grown up now but you never stop worrying. Take care Best Wishes K

Good morning everyone
BG this morning 5.9
Busy morning ahead of me with a motorway journey which has I getting older I don't look forward to.
But my niece has to have a medical miles from home so I'm needed to get her their, she is double epileptic and it's to review her PIP allowance it's disgusting what genuinely sick people have to do to prove they should have this allowance. She has many seizures 25 one after the other some months ago, where do these people draw a line eh,K

Hi. 6.8 may be a good bit higher than your usual, but I wouldn't say it was cause for alarm at all. yes, a small infection can and often does increase blood sugar. Bear in mind also that sometimes the liver will dump glucose into the system to prepare the body for the day ahead and it appears to be to be a bit random in its timing and hard to predict (which is one of the reason that the waking level is not necessarily the lowest level of the day). Also...one reading on its own is not enough to really read much into at all as many little factors can account for an apparent blip. I definitely would not be scared by it for a minute. Hopefully, it's down again later and back to your usual tomorrow.
Thank you so much
