What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Remember my mother telling me many years ago that raw liver used to be used in pregnant ladies because of the iron contained. Ughh.!

I remember my mother telling me that I would never get very far in life. I have to tell you she was completely wrong. I have actually never got anywhere in life :)

I almost died from vomiting when pregnant, and lacked actually all nutrients, I even started having infections in my veins from where the saltwater and glucose drops where connected to my veins... a lack of vitamin C and had bleeding stomach too for some weeks, luckily they had some injectable medicine against that... I then when feeling only a bit better went to the library to read what they did to women in old days before glucose drops .. and actually they did try to save those women by putting raw liver up in her behind... as all would be vomited up again... most of these extremely severe cases died ... or survived looking like a person from a concentration camp... lucky me living in this epoch of civilisation... so well raw liver may have saved a lot of women in ancient times... as a miracle my daughter was born normal weight and in a fantastic condition.... I still wonder how important nutrients are ... but maybe our luck was due to a very healthy and nutrient-rich food right before becoming pregnant.

SO I´LL USE THIS CHANCE TO PRAISE RAW LIVER .... for all these saved women (and children ) in centuries before us

Still not nice to eat raw liver though! Not needed in modern age!! My mum very old fashioned ideas in 70s!!

5,8 mmol/l which is better than I was expecting after the terrible day I had yesterday. A friend of my mom's visiting from Australia was suddenly taken ill and I spend most of the afternoon and evening in the waiting room of the A&E with his wife and my mom trying to find what was going on. As this was in Kyrenia in the north of Cyprus almost everyone there spoke Turkish only, which I do not understand, with only a rare person speaking English. So finding out what was going on.

My only evening meal were a couple of packet of crisps from a vending machine there. It was that or starve.

We finally crossed to back to the Greek speaking south at ten o clock, the main thing wrong with the man was that his blood pressure had become unregulated and was too high.

I tried to get the medicine we were prescribed in the north at an all night chemist in the south, only to find that none of the medicine prescribed is in the market here.

Our only choice was to go to another hospital in the south, spend another three further hours there where the doctors had him rechecked and be given a new subscription for medicine that are available.

He is due to fly back to Australia on two days time so at least with all this checks we were able to establish that it is safe for him to do so!

But I owe you a photo so here are a couple. The name of this plant is Lantana.

After my 5km morning walk (I resisted the temptation to just stay in bed as I did not want to break the sequence of daily walks) sugar is down to 5.2 mmol.

Have a great Friday everyone.
