7.7 on waking, always a bit later than at home but also diet gone to "rats doo dah." Fantastic weather @PenguinMum here in Majorca. Temperature not quite as hot here as it has apparently been in UK at home. I am not jealous because at home I do not have a swimming pool, sunbed or bar so happy to slob out and leave the paint brush , lawnmower and grand children a few thousand miles away.

10.5 after visit to loo

Don't think I'm ever going to be able to test in bed as my fingers need hefty assistance from gravity to bleed. Has anyone managed to fingerprick lying down? Will ask diabetes nurse eventually but she has probably never even thought of it.

not had an issue laying down other than anxiety over the fingerprick itself , bathroom to wash hands in warm water for a couple of mins, or holding a nice warm coffee on the odd occassion lucky enough to have breakfast in bed :)

That's good to know. Does the getting up, walking and hand soaking affect your numbers much? I was told to test "first thing" which I took to mean before getting out of bed.

Before breakfast is fine imo. I'm basing that on the booklet to record results in. Before breakfast, before mid-day meal, before evening meal and 2 hours after each alongside bedtime I'm type1 (apparentl). My mum type2 just filled meals and wasn't asked 2 hours after. She was type2 insulin dependant if under 6 in the evening was told to eat something she started experiencing hypos with any blood glucose under 5

6.5 this morning.
Same with me @Ryhia 5 or 6 years ago I was doing everything well but then slipped back then when things stabilised my fbs were averaging 5 to 6s and never more than 5 by evening I seem to be averaging mid sevens during the day and I'm doing low carb..
Sorry to hear you are struggling. Hoping things start to improve for you soon. I think my issue might be the amount of weight I have put on this Winter. Up 2 dress sizes. If I can do a reset and lose some of it, I think things will be ok. Hoping so anyway.

Thanks @Ryhia for some reason I thought I would breeze back into the 4s and 5s again after ignoring it for a few years well I'm determined to plod along low carb and hopefully get back there.im sure the gout thingy has raised things a bit not so bad today I had a better 6.6 at 0500 and a 5.7 at 1700 hrs.

Your TIR must be really brilliant based on your FBG postings, so no worries for the A1c.

Hope you get the results you want in all areas.

Keep us posted. :)

walking in general tends to lower sugars for me (short walks at very slow pace), swimming appears to have a bigger difference in helping to reduce (at very very slow pace) that is basing off cgm.

hand soaking wont effect cgm, it may effect fingerprick results. if hands are not dry it will dilute the sample. hence was advised in hospistal wipe away first droplet then squeeze / rub downwards for another droplet and check against the second droplet of blood.

over the moon as very shortly after this mornings original post have finally hit refresh mydiabetesmyway :) results are in! whoohoo! celebrating today some bolognese for dinner minus the pasta :D

8.2 for me this morning. Daily results first thing are slowly but surely rising but to be expected as holiday food not carb friendly in the least unless of course I fancy fasting for a week. Proof positive that it is the carb values that affect my BG. Doing plenty of swimming and walking but watching numbers slowly increase as the week and bad diet progresses. Next week it is back to workhouse gruel in order to get the numbers back down, weirdly though I am sort of looking forward to it. Good luck to everyone else in your struggles and well done @grantg with your blood results.
