What's the best piece of advice you can give to someone who's newly diagnosed as Pre/T1/T2? It can be anything from a statement to diet advice or coping with it.

For me I'd say: Don't feel overwhelmed by the changes facing you, Embrace it and think positive!

How about "Dont panic Mr Mainwarring"

Bear in mind that carbohydrates essentially turn to sugar in the blood.

Don't believe every thing you read. and that includes this, But don't take every thing with a pinch of salt it's bad for you, and ditch the carbs exercise if you can and test regularly to find out what you can eat safely and what you can't blood sugar wise.

Don't ever panic, just take it a day at a time. It's easy to become frustrated in the few months after diagnosis. Education is key, read, learn and most importantly document what works and what doesn't work for you.

Exercise insulin food................
If you get the 3 balanced for the majority of the time you won't go far wrong..............

Take responsibility for your future health.
Don't waste your time blaming yourself or others for past events or your current situation.
Just start now by taking responsibility for yourself and your actions.

That means what you eat, what you do, what meds you take, and when.
Don't expect your medical professionals to take control.
Make your own appointments and keep them.
Educate yourself.
Track and monitor your own health by testing yourself and getting copies of all tests done on you.

And the rest of the time live well, enjoy life, and don't let diabetes (or any other medical condition) rule you.

Get yourself a glucometer!

POSITIVITY controls diabetes.
There is no such thing as expert diabetics ONLY experienced diabetics .
Your diabetes is unique to you.
Be proud of who you are with diabetes as your partner in life.

Don't worry about falling off the horse/wagon. It happens, we're human (of itself prone to falling off things!), it's certainly not the end of the world. I've fallen off spectacularly and it's not derailed me - it only becomes a problem if you think 'oh, that's it then. I've mucked up, what's the point in continuing'. Oh, and enjoy Christmas Day/a special day without thinking of carbs if possible!
