What's your diet and hba1c

What diet are you on and what's your hba1c?

Can you quantify whether your improvements are from reducing carbs (less swings) or possibly from other things such as testing more, adjusting doses etc?

Only being nosey.. Well, I am actually interested because hospitals and GPs should lusten and learn from real people that get improvements and find out if it is less carbs for a T1 (as well as T2's)
My blood sugars are more stable after taking less milk and more water in my porridge for breakfast, and no bread for lunch and I test the same and I take less insulin now for breakfast and lunch but stay the same for dinner

Was this a recommendation by your health professionals or you doing by yourself?

Just interesting to know whether us T1's are being told to reduce carbs a little by hospitals etc or whether (in general) we are tending to find this out for ourselves..

Just find it interesting as my consultant now is the only consultant that has ever asked me in30 years what I eat. She also likes that I eat chia, flax seeds and good fats and doesn't mind that I eat less carbs than the NHS state. No other healtcare person has ever taken any notice of my foods or that I am lean.

Just find it interesting to hear other T1 persons reasons for lowering carbs and why they came to that decision.
 
I have absolutely no restrictions on my diet - I eat whatever i want to eat whenever i want too.

Beyond counting carbs for injection purposes I don't give them a second thought. However, I am not someone who eats 'high carb' or purposefully 'low carb' if I eat 'low carb' its purely coincidence based on the foods i prefer, not that i made a conscious choice.

My normal daily carb intake is likely between 80-150g over 2 meals, and 1 snack usually before bed. I do not eat breakfast.

My last HbA1c has been 5.6%, and 5.4% before that.

If you are injecting the proper amount of insulin, counting your carbs properly, and checking your sugars frequently enough to apply a correction for highs, there should be very little reason why you can't have low HbA1c values.

Everything I do, inc SD, I learned from this forum.

Nothing from the doctors or nurses. Tho I had an appt with hospital nutritionist, but didn't bother to go.

I read, read, read, everything. Consultant thinks Im a control freak - I am - but supports me doing low carb.

Lates hba1c is 33mmol/mol, so down from over 100 to 33 in six months. I am low carbing and enjoying my ride at the moment as I have some remaining betacells.

Woah that's low! Congrats, and as your beta cells decline, watch out for the hypos at that level.
 
Well I chose full carb from your suggestions. Although I wouldn't class it as that. My HbA1c is currently 6.9% although it has been in the 5% when I was younger and ate the same. Currently struggle with dawn phenomenon so I figure that's what makes mine higher. Quite happy with 6.9% though.
 
I have for the past 25 years eaten 120 gms carbohydrates a day,it's something I worked out for myself.My last two hbaic's were 46 and 48.I am now on a pump because I have lost my "hypo" awareness,I have maintained a stable weight.As for my Diabetes team,they support me totally.
