When do you start to feel better?

I was diagnosed in October with an a1c of 10.1%. At that time, with a lot of research and reading (and not a lot of help from the doctor's office) I learned that I should I should be testing a lot, and lowering my carbs. I did. My first a1c after diagnosis was a 6.2% (or 6.1% I can't remember) so I am heading in the right direction I think. I have lost 25 pounds within all this.

But since then, I still don't feel that burst of energy people talk about. I didn't really have any symptoms at diagnosis. I was tired a lot though, and I still feel tired. When does this go away?? I want my energy back.

I am taking metformin (2000 per day) and metoprolol for high blood pressure.

Fatigue doesn't have to be diabetes-related... Could be a side effect of the metformin (as it reduces a body's ability to process vitamin b), and vitamin d deficiency is a common thing this time of year... If you're not feeling better, don't assume it's the T2 wearing you down. Ask your doc for some blood tests. The B and D vitamins would be useful to check, as well as things like thyroid function. You shouldn't have to feel like this, so don't let this go eh.

Hope you feel better soon!

And haemoglobin and iron. I though that my starting insulin was causing fatigue. I just happened to be low in iron.
