When does the bodies metabolism slow?

I sometimes do a two or three day fast. I am wondering if this is counterproductive for weight loss. I have heard that if your body goes into hard core starvation mode ,then when you do eat again your body will try to store every bit of energy it can as fat.

Anyone agree or disagree with that?

Depends on your body composition. If you’re on the heavy side, a couple days probably won’t actually put you in starvation mode. But at some point, you’ll burn some lean mass. I think is like after 4 days.

part of your metabolism is digestion, so you lose that. Another issue is NEAT, which tends to drop on a fast.

I’ve fasted a few times with success. My exit meals were high protein as I was more concerned about losing muscle
