Another question from me guys. My BS is dropping tonight. It's at 4.4mmol/L now, I was wondering if it gets any lower what should I eat to bring it back up? or should I just go ahead now and eat a small mandarin or kiwi or a banana perhaps?

Hello.
Exact same thing just happened to me.

I always treat at 4.4 to avoid a hypo, but also I start to feel it at 4.4 as I was only diagnosed in June. Also, you need enough to last until morning and if you're still dropping you might hypo.

If it's dropping then it's only sensible to treat it before you go too low, but much depends upon how much IOB you have to how much you treat the low levels by, if it's just 2 hours since you last injected then you might need 10-15g of carbs, if it's 3-4 hours since your last injection then you might get away with a 10g of carbs or less, it really does depend on your own experiences.

as noble says, depends on the insulin left still working............

if I had my lunch at 12 and tested at 1600 and it was 4.4 I wouldn't do anything, as my insulin would be finished............so if there is still insulin working it may be wise to treat......

it also quite hard to resist if your getting hypo symptoms, so I wouldn't see a a bit of fruit, as you suggested, doing any harm.........:)
