Where do people go out for breakfast?

It's one thing that I really miss with a cooked breakfast!
One day I was served grilled halloumi that had been way over grilled. It was hard but tasted surprisingly good, like toast or fried bread would. I haven't managed to recreate exactly the same dehydrated-ness that the cafe did, but it should be possible.

As above, fried bread isn’t lower carb, but it’s absorbed more slowly so my body is able to produce insulin to deal with it and I don’t get a big peak. Of course you might be different so try……and test.
Whereas fried higher carbs give me a peak that is sustained and impacts for longer than the 2 hours so is harder to test for. If you have a CGM that’s one thing, but if you don’t know when your peak is and the 2 hours is no longer reliable I am not sure that it’s a good thing

for me, eating out for breakfast or at all is always going to be a risk as you don’t know what is in the food fully. Fried breakfasts but removing a lot of what you get seems possible but limits the selection a lot. You’d need to remove bread, sausages, hash browns, beans… Are those sausages low carb or not? Tinned Tomatoes may be… eggs and bacon, should be okay

it’s really a gamble and being fired as I said just complicates things a lot

for low carb (which is implied by the OPs post, not the header) then finding a good restaurant you trust Nd talking to them may be a good option

Now that's strange because every time I have tried to grill halloumi so that it remains soft and a bit stretchy, I manage unintentionally and without trying, to cook it to the consistency of rock hard (very dehydrated) fried bread! :)

yes, I wear a libre. It’s fascinating that we are all so different.

One of my local cafes does something called The Awesome Veggie Breakfast. Two eggs cooked by method of choice, grilled halloumi, avocado, mushrooms and their own delicious ratatouille. I skip the toast. Sunshine on a plate!

The only time I have breakfast out is when we go to Ireland on the ferry ,it is cafeteria come buffet I have 2 rashers of. bacon 2eggs and a large spoonful of mushrooms and the only potatoes I ever eat is a hashbrown There is an awesome toasting machine where you can toast as much bread as you want so I take my own low carb bread if I want to but I let my husband toast it for me ! All in with the ferry fare .We have not been able to go since lockdown .Boo Hoo
PS I miss seeing my family as well as the breakfast :)

In normal times I have a summer holiday somewhere Mediterranean but this year it was touring The Lake District and Northumberland. It rained a lot of the time but at least I could start the day with a Full English. I allow myself some latitude on holiday so I didn't worry about the carb content of the sausage or black pudding and I even had a small portion of beans. So much better than having to avoid the tempting croissants and pastries and having to settle for the bland ham and cheese.

As a newly diagnosed Type 2, I have started following a low carb diet. I've got dinner sussed when eating out usually a steak and salad but breakfast is another story!

Other than Wetherspoons freedom breakfast which is 12.2 g of carbs does anyone have any suggestions, as everywhere else seems to have menus that are full of carbs or the lighter options are porridge or toast! I know I can cook at home but we like the Sunday morning breakfast ritual of eating out.

Hi,

Like @Riva_Roxaban stated above. Tha classic trucker's cafe for an eat out breakfast.
Which could give you what you wish & omit what you don't.
Lol, I've even pulled into a layby in France traveling with my wife & eaten oysters?
Or in the same vein, to the truck stop an indie street cafe. Where they are only too happy to tailor a breakfast of "brunch" to your requirements..

Personally, much more preferable to doing the chains.

Thank you so much for all your replies, I really appreciate you all taking the time to respond and thank you for some great ideas. I will be giving the toast, fried bread and hash browns a miss, as it doesnt fit with my goals but everything else sounds great!
