I'm from Birmingham, brummie lass through and true (but not a yam yam!)

I work in the pet trade but mainly specialise in reptiles and own a number of rescues myself :) on maternity leave at the moment though.

I've had other jobs where I've traveled around the country by myself to work so totally understand the anxiety related to that.
I tested A LOT (probably a bit much to be honest) and always made sure I had plenty of hypo treatments with me and money to buy more if needs be.

All the best,
Claire X

Dear Claire,

Nice to virtually meet you.

When I was growing up on Guam, we had a gecko that I fell in love with that was a sort of baby blue with pink spots, rather large through a child's eyes, maybe 6 inches in the body and then there was the magnificent tail. It came out at night on the other side of our house screens from the boondocks. I was amazed partly that something so large could walk on the screens and not fall off, and of course I loved the colors as opposed to the other brownish geckos and the size, for the others were much smaller and hunted for them in the day without seeing a one? Are you familiar with this glorious gecko and what is it's name? This was the year before our first TV which we got back in the states so the snakes of midday and the geckos and insects of night were kind of primo0 kid entertainment.

btw, don't know what is a brummie lass nor a yum yum
Hi!

That sounds very much like a Tokay Gecko, very very beautiful animals and are very large compared to other geckos.
Lovely to look at but are known to be aggressive in comparison and can give a very nasty bite. They hunt in the night time and hide away in the day which is why you would have struggled to find them in the day.
They have tiny hairs on their feet to enable them to climb vertically without falling down, very impressive!

I hope this helps!

The term brummie lass means that I was born and live in Birmingham in England. A yam yam is somebody from the Black Country which is very close to Birmingham but not quite the same, we often get confused with each other.
