im not sure where to post my question
but here it is

which is better?
to eat fast foods like burgers chili salads maybe subs as needed per meal/snack( to avoid extra food handy)
or
eat a weeks worth of food all in 1 or 2 days?

i have an eating disorder
im just not sure what its called
it involves binging with purging in the past but not at this time
ive asked my health care givers but i guess its not bad enough
to warrant any help
even though im on insulin (type 2)

so which choice would be better?
i dont see any other at this time
so i try to work with what i can do

this is really hard to advise you in..!
I am sad you have to also fight with an eating disorder besides having type 2 diabetes

I think when you are also using insulin the best will be to eat in a more stable manner than binging a whole weeks food en just 2 days.

but there are actually some people in here that do the intermittent fasting eating style and some of those do only eat 1 meal daily a huge one though.

it is I guess most important that you get the needed amount of proteins you need on a daily basis.

the easiest way to get proteins is by eating meat or eggs and milk, but one can also get all the needed proteins from plants, then one needs to know a bit more of how to combine the right kind of vegs and nuts and lentils and beans and legumes.

an average person of 70 kg would need at least 50 grams of proteins in a day . and 1 egg is around 7 grams of pure protein.

proteins are important because all the bodies cells are made of protein and the health of the body depends on getting enough protein almost daily.

fats are the only nutrient that never raises blood glucose...

whether you choose to eat frequently or not, making a commitment to eating only real - good quality foods instead of fast foods will help you regain your health . good luck !

You have asked your healthcare givers but no referral hun?

Make an appointment with your dn or gp in the morning for asap. This has to be requested asap.
My diabetic team have an excellent psychologist within the team.
When do you see your insulin nurse next?

I know their services are getting support lately so you should be welcomed with the correct support.
You must ask, asap.

As of tonight or til you see your dn you know you have an eating disorder but not sure how to fix it.
Remember 3 steady meals is the aim or backbone of eating with insulin.
Are you skipping insulin and meals?
Test, test and test to put yourself upright.
I've used a paper diary to make big changes to insulin therapy. Have you a new empty one at hand?
Your meter supplier will post you a few if you call their freephone number which also supplies its batteries.
Dn should have an empty one at hand, gp practice nurse may have one if you ask receptionist tomorrow too.
Start afresh in your diary.
Write in your last dn's instructions. Start afresh and make an attempt at your 3 meals and insulin as instructed. Don't take too much insulin. If unsure wait to see dn as an urgent appointment tomorrow but don't leave it any longer.
Tomorrow is a fresh start for you.
What insulin are you on and what was your diabetes nurse last advice on how many units you need to take or change too?

Have you only recently acquired an eating problem or is your dn aware and working with you to make improvements for you?
Maybe your dn wasn't aware that your need is urgent now. Lean on your dn or gp whoever you can talk to best, until mental health support picks you up for help.

Can you call your dn in the morning? As early as possible, would be best.

Please keep me updated. :)

Hello there. Neither of those options is too great, but you may already know that.

None of us are health care professionals, so are unable to give you medical advice, but from a safety perspective, do you adjust your insulin to cover any over eating days, or are you on fixed amounts of insulin every day irrespective of your eating patterns? That's an important safety concern.

I think @Jaylee or @himtoo may be online to catch up on the insulin part, and I'm not an insulin user.

Good luck with your eating disorder. Having suffered an eating disorder many years ago, I understand how horrid it can be.

hi there lovely @cdpm
Insulin is the key to me for this answer

you are taking insulin to help control blood sugars
I would be looking to eat a low/moderate carb intake

an evening meal example

beef stir fry with mange tout , bean sprout , onion , mushroom , broccoli
served with cauliflower rice ( blitzed with food processor and stir fried )

a meal like this using chinese 5 spice and a teaspoon or 2 of soy sauce will come in at under 10 carbs total
and could help you in gaining back BG's you want to see

also -- eating non carb meals -- such as veggie omelettes will assist you as well

I also note the issue with eating disorder
I am so so sorry I cannot assist on this --and i know this will form part of your issues with eating and insulin.

issues with eating are difficult and I so so sympathise with you
eating is so complicated for many of us --

"I try to avoid my cde because I fear not being" allowed" to keep my own control
over the way I use the insulin (they originally wanted me to use a set dose per
3 meals a day) but i find carb counting and matching the insulin to the amount of
carbs more accurate and flexible plus they accept way higher blood glucose
numbers than i do, that i feel better having without sympoms so i dont see her
very often"

" i wasnt able to do the 3 meal pattern without being left out of going
places with people because they have no schedules and i dont either so
the 3 meal pattern was tying me down plus its very obssessing in the sense that
when that clock says its a meal time i have to eat so its very inflexible
and causes me to be obssessed which doesnt help the whole problem at all"

"I use lantus twice a day and rapid to match my carbs so the dose varies plus i have been adjusting my insulin on my own from the beginning so i havent any dose advice
given me"

Have you only recently acquired an eating problem or is your dn aware and working with you to make improvements for you?

"Ive had a disorder since i was 16 but it changed a few times to different
disorders but now its just binging and im actually not sure my cde (certified
diabetes educator) knows because it was my NP i told and i dont know if he
told her"

all i can think of doing is not bring food in my residence
which means eating out or fast food
except for bringing in hypo treatment things

My advice ( for what it's worth ) is to speak to a dietician, but logic dictates not to eat a weeks worth of food in one or two days. I don't think your body will be able to process that massive intake of food and make it last all week, and more to the point, you'll need to stock up on toilet paper !

Like @Robbieswan says logic is needed in an ilogical situation, like yours.
That is going to be where the hard work is needed, for you.

You are confident with your insulin and your need to keep your hba1c looking good.

Specialist support is your answer @cdpm . Pschologically support for your eating disorder.
Have you made headway acquiring your help?

im not really sure how to
i have told my NP and i gather due to
lack of it ever being mentioned again
that it isnt serious to them
it hasnt affected my insulin use
its alot of calories at once or unhealthy food if i
did the fast food instead of the alot of calories at once
im kind of thinking it is ok because they do nothing( the health
people i see) but its extremely distressing which
makes it seem not ok
the self hate and shame from eating all that food at once
dont they think that needs help?
i do see my NP early dec so i need a way to mention it again?
without making him think i cant handle adjusting my own insulin
or wanting to control every bite i eat or when

hi there @cdpm
can I just say -- you are doing your best and dealing with eating issues as well as diabetes is never going to be easy.
i am just sendng a hug to you --try to be kind to yourself -- take things a day at a time
do talk to your diabetic nurse -- go in prepared by writing out your questions and thoughts -- it will help you to be more in control of your appointment

all the best !!

Do insist on your problems being discussed.
My own situation is very different - I don't have any contact with anyone to do with my diabetes as it is not a problem any longer, but if I was in difficulties then they would know about it - I suggest you make it your first point in your interview, and if you are not given any guidance then ask for referral to someone who can help when you get to the end of it.
Neither of the options you are trying to manage is a good one - you should get assistance from those responsible for your healthcare.
