Who are they?

He was a bit of a loner as a child.
He would often lie back with his legs bent, one leg crossed over
the other by the banks of a river reading one of his many books,
patiently waiting to catch birds in a simple bird trap he'd made.
He would lie there on his own for hours
waiting for the bird trap to be sprung.

I can't help but notice that it's all gone very quiet. I have no idea who it is either but I will make a guess to start us off.

Desmond Tutu.

Actually scrap that last answer. Desmond Tutu does seem to fit the bill.

Trouble is they all seem to have that rather large nose don't they....
 
I can't find a pic of Desmond but the more I look at the pic the surer I am so...

As far as love and compassion are concerned, our guy is at the opposite
end of the spectrum from dear old retired Archbishop Desmond.

He's still around today.

Well that was a surprise since I looked through a lot of Mugabe piccy's and decided it wasn't him. However I have now seen the photgraph of his wedding and you are correct. Sooo...........
