Who has symptoms

Not at all convinced that this explosion of type 2 is that and not some as yet unidentified virus or something.

Was taken off the medication for better part of a year because of complications with the chest problems - ALL symptoms disappeared.

Stuck back on last month and its dry mouths; terrible stomach upsets; mood swings; catching every cold going. I have no faith what so ever in the medical profession; bunch of leech wranglers

Well you could both plod on as you are, or you could be a bit pro-active and get yourselves meters to test your own blood glucose levels then you would be in control of your own situations rather than leaving it in the hands of the medical profession who aren't always that quick to notice when things are going wrong. That way you would know whether you are diabetic or not regardless of what any HCP tells you.
 
I do thanks have done for the last 9 months never get high readings in fact they are in the normal levels of non type 2

Categorically told by my GP NOT to do my own tests.

"This isn't how we manage these things; you'll damage the nerve endings in your fingers"

Floating around 8 I feel great anything lower or higher - ******

Work long hours in a high stress job - that has more effect on sugars then any diet based issues as far as I can establish.

And I'd put money on that being an issue for most of the younger type 2ers

What's normal - I've been told 4-6; 5-8; & 7-10 (qualified with not harmful) by different doctors.

Sorry if I sound ****** off but I am. Had years of this now and only ever suffer when following the "experts" advice.

After 5 years of misdiagnosis over my rotten chest I've no faith in any of them.

The repeat testing until they got the result to dish out sacks of poison didn't help either.

....what do you expect to happen if you are diabetic...? Earlier you mentioned 'hypo'....I've only ever had one in fifteen years but it doesn't mean I'm not diabetic..

a) Get yourself a new doctor - does he/she still use leeches?

b) Ignore advice of doctor - it's your body, eyes, legs, kidneys, heart, etc etc

c) Follow Zands advice and get a meter and test regularly for at least a week or two, before food, one hour after and two hours after. If your blood returns to 4-5.5/6 then take that info to new doctor and shout for joy. Otherwise take control.

d) Use side of finger pads, less painful and NO you won't damage nerves,

This whole thread has me scratching my head.

Diabetes is a chameleon. It throws out weird, wonderful and amazingly unconnected symptoms - so that even health care professionals don't spot it!

How on earth would anyone know that the aches in their knees, or the skin tag in their armpit are signs of BG disruption?

These are (off the top of my head) a list of seemingly random symptoms that MAY indicate problems with blood sugar and/or diabetes:

  • Hard lumpy spots/boils in armpit or groin (regularly, or sporadically)
  • Skin tags on neck, groin, armpits
  • Facial boils or acne
  • Slow skin healing
  • Cuts and abrasions get infected more than they used to
  • Cold/virus symptoms that are worse than other people get
  • Slow recovery time from other ailments
  • Darker skin patches in skin folds
  • Blurred vision
  • Headaches
  • Hollow shaky feelings
  • Lethargy
  • Sleepiness
  • Sugar highs and over excitement
  • Feeling more tired than normal
  • Needing more sleep than normal
  • Inflammation (anywhere)
  • Sore joints, muscles and tendons
  • Leaden feelings during exercise
  • Sweet smelling/tasting urine (yeah, if you haven't tasted a drop of your own urine, you ain't lived!)
  • Mood swings
  • Weight gain
  • Weight loss
  • Thirst
  • Dry mouth
  • Sweating
  • Lack of sweat
  • Frothy urine
  • Irritability
  • Food cravings
  • Chocolate, bread, alcohol, coffee, cigarette 'addictions'
  • Sleeping incredibly deeply
  • Unconsciousness
  • Death
Anyone else got any I've missed? There must be hundreds!

And to add to the confusion, every single one of the list above may also be a symptom of something else!
AND they may be indications of prediabetes, not diabetes!

So, how the heck does someone know that they don't have symptoms of diabetes?

Thankfully not the 'death' one yet. Lol
