Who needs the gym!

I agree with your title! I’ve lost 6 stone 4lbs since diagnosis and haven’t stepped foot in a gym :joyful:
Congratulations on your weight loss!

Obviously the OP has lost weight without resorting to the gym well that's what I take the reference to mean.

Diet is necessary for weight loss.
Who actually stated that gyms were necessary for weight loss?

Ever heard the phrase 'eat less move more'? I would hazard a guess that almost every PreD and T2 have.

I recently got my first nonD number. While I advocate excercise for all round health I do not think that excercise specifically for weight loss is successful in the long term.

There are many many reasons for exercise such as increased bone density, reduce risk of cv problems, mental well being, even weight gain for some, ...
But exercise does not have to mean gym. It can mean walking, dancing, gardening, housework, ...
However, gyms seem to have a bad rep. No one forcing anyone to go but I find them great, visit 4 or 5 times a week and get fed up with the implication that they are dull.

That said... @Type-2-Havent-A-Clue well done on your weight loss.

Congratulations to @Type-2-Havent-A-Clue on your weight loss. Well done! :D

Don’t worry. Your thread won’t be derailed further.
Any members who continue to divert your happy celebration into old arguments over diet and lifestyle will receive thread bans.

I love walking, just out and about, another great exercise is gardening and DIY. I signed up to a gym many years ago and hated it after just one session, outside is for me :)

Quick update for you all!

Last week I weighed in at 20st 8lb

This week... 19st 9lb!

I had to double check but it’s all legitimate!

Congratulations, what did you do to loose the weight ?
edited : have you a weight that you would like to get to ?

But the OP , from past posts has made dramatic changes to food type and intake.

Exactly! Being satisfied sooner, getting a vastly more nutritious intake and still losing excess weight without regimented excetcise. The point is to change what we eat not necessarily how much. I'm a good eater but pre diagnosis I had started to graze because carbs leave you with an almost insatiable hunger.
