I am just about to embark onto the lchf way of eating and wondering if i can eat wholegrain rice occasionally? Thanks in advance

You can eat whatever you like, but I bet you'll get a shock if you test your blood glucose after you eat the rice. Maybe you'll be able to tolerate it without spiking, but unless you test you'll never know.

I would avoid it to start with.. maybe experiment later when you have better blood sugar control.
Carbs are the main problem so try to avoid them as much as possible. Whether wholemeal or not they are still carbs.

Quinoa has more carbs per 100g than I would be comfortable with -16.4g I try to limit anything to 5g per 100g or under with the exception of Oppo ice cream which is just under 8g.

The amount isn't the problem for most members. The spike or lack of it is the worrying aspect. Not everybody is wanting to lose weight.

I'm surprised with that amount of carbs that it didn't spike.. was the meat fatty hence delaying the spike. And I would say that the amount of carbs is exactly what is the problem for most members here following a Low Carb diet whether wishing to loose weight or not.

The carbs in quinoa is slow release. If anyone finds this amount a problem then any type of rice dish is a no no because the quinoa is the "best" of the type. Not everybody wants to go ultra low down to 20 carbs or below. Personally I keep it under 100 grms which means I can enjoy certain foods but still keep good blood sugar levels. 4.7 at my last annual test. To me it isn't about eating as low as possible but finding a balance. Remember my post should be taken in context of the initial post about eating wholegrain rice.
